Phillidina Clemont is the tragic opposite of her brother, Gregory.
She's been through many foster homes and foster-to-adopt programs, but none ever settled. She spent the majority of her childhood in a privately owned catholic orphanage. She often thought the "private" part of the orphanage meant clean and safe.
She was nearing 5 when her brother was placed in a different foster program than she was. She gave up hope when her brother promised to find her at age 7. Nothing was bright in her life; she grew numb to the world around her. She was withdrawn and didn't spend much time trying to impress families or even try to connect.
Her peers avoided her; they were instructed to by the foul-tempered nuns, who she believed hated her. The constant abuse and involuntary isolation led her to her suicide at age 10.
At the gates of heaven, she was condemned by the angels for the way of her death and sent to hell. Immediately.
In hell, she met a young Damien and got close to the shockingly sensitive Satan. She aged just as Damien did, giving her soul to him, accidentally, through childhood promises and play.
Around 12, the duo was allowed to visit Earth. Damien was sent there to live with and learn about humans, to better prepare him for his future. Phillidina got access through her close friendship with the antichrist. Their demonic features were easily concealed through Damien's limited powers.
She was able to do what she couldn't in the orphanage: live. She filled her school days with extracurriculars and fun groups, often dragging along Damien.
She had long forgotten about her brother and his promise, focused on enjoying her time.
Until it was cruelly cut short at 19. Phillidina was resurrected into a cold, clammy body. It was a horrific feeling, warming up something that should already be warm, being in something so stiff, and needing to be stretched back to the mobility it once had. And the hunger... The hunger was the worst part. Never satiated and twisted ugly in her abdomen.
Phillidina wasn't happy about being resurrected, and she hardly recognized her brother. It wasn't about her; she knew that much. The light in his eyes wasn't relief or joy; it was satisfaction and accomplishment. He did what he promised and achieved the biggest goal of his life at the cost of his sister's comfort.
Gregory's satisfaction was quickly consumed with guilt. Being by Phillidina's side as she went through the side effects of being resurrected from the dead using magic. It was wrong, just wrong, but he selfishly wanted her alive.
Phillidina despised the deeds the magic forced her to commit just to survive. She believed they were far too dark. More than that, she missed her lover. Being apart from him felt unnatural; after all, she had spent nearly nine years by his side.
