Moodboard!

Here I will share and showcase mostly my creative ideas within the realms of storyboards, cinematics and literature.

I am participating in a writing project of sorts with a few friends, and my main contribution to this project is the setting of Neo Karma.

Neo Karma is a city inspired by Hong Kong and Tokyo in the style of a very vibrant cyberpunk aesthetic. Skies of pink, flying cars, a very scenic city on the surface.

When you dig a bit deeper, you'll be able to find a population of destitution and abuse. People broken by a system of corruption, veterans and injured workers struggling to maintain cybernetic augments that they used to rely on for a livelihood.

The two main regions are known as Topside and the Underground. (creative, I know)

I will share my literary and cinematic vision of this city and its residents on my moodboard, so feel free to engage with any creative discussions :]

My page is a space safe for those in the LGBTQIA2S+ community, and I will not tolerate any sort of harassment to any individuals within my blog.

What sorts of vehicles are commonly used in Neo Karma?

Is there a reason these specific vehicles are used?

Many different types of vehicles are used in Neo Karma.

For those who can afford them, maglev cars/motorcycles are common due to the somewhat steep incline in Neo Karma's roads. You also have to admit, riding around on a hoverbike is sick as hell.

Traditional road vehicles are also common, multiple companies still produce sports cars that have rubber tires.

Within the Underground, work horse motorcycles are incredibly common due to poor road conditions and frequent pockets of debris on the roads. Motorcycles similar to the Honda CG125 and the Honda Trail series bikes are found throughout the Underground.

What are some of the aesthetic inspirations for Neo Karma?

Are there any that are more prominent than others?

Those are some fantastic questions!

I have different inspirations for Neo Karma's aesthetic. A handful of dense East Asian cities like Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Bangkok are just a few!

The most prominent ones would be Hong Kong, Night City from Cyberpunk 2077, and Pandora from Avatar for the skyline of Topside while the main inspirations for the Underground are Fortuna from Warframe and the silos from Silo!

My favorite has to be Night City, it is a setting I explore deeply every time I play 2077! Market stalls filled with people trying to just scrape by, city streets filled with flashy and hedonistic corporate marketing, a visible wealth disparity that you can see in the city itself and the people within it.

This is my first ever Unreal Engine project.

I have no prior experience working with 3D software besides posing a single model in Blender.

I produced this in a workshop partnership between my broadcasting vocational program and an educational nonprofit.
