“Looks like your friend can’t handle my homemade hooch recipe,” Niles chuckled, clapping Aki none-too-gently on the back, eliciting a pained moan.
“Uh, Nida - let’s not tell your mom about this, eh? I’m gonna sneak in the house and grab some of that tincture she uses for a hangover cure - “ At this point Aki’s face was positively green, and Niles finally appeared to be somewhat shamefaced over his role in the whole sorry mess.
“He’ll be fine, don’t worry,” Niles predicted cheerfully. He passed a bucket over to Nida, toeing it over with the tip of his rubber boot. “If he pukes, have him chuck into that.”

Cheeky bastard…
These are true words
- Ты вообще поняла, что я сказала? - Твои губы двигались, оттуда выходили звуки, больше ничего.

[ He appears at the Warren house without words, Selphie’s voice ringing in his ears, and as soon as one of his parents appears, Nida loses it entirely. -corditeheart]
Wendy hears the screen door slam and nothing further; odd, she realizes, as normally any one of her boys would either announce themselves loudly upon their arrival, or at the very least, make a beeline for the refrigerator. But Nida has done neither of those things. She leaves the dishes aside for a moment, grateful that the baby is finally taking longer than half an hour for an afternoon nap; Nia had been teething and miserable the past week, but it was hardly Wendy Warren’s first rodeo in regards to baby teeth breaking through.
Then she saw Nida’s crestfallen face, and instantly knew something was wrong; though what it was, she could hardly guess. Wendy took a seat opposite him in the porch swing, not wanting to pry, yet wanting to know, just what was troubling her son.
“Everything okay?” she asked quietly, knowing full well it likely wasn’t. Nida rarely made an unannounced visit home; at the very least, he’d head right to the kitchen and greet his mother.
He stopped kicking the swing once his mom found him, stilling it so she could sit.
Everything was not alright, but he didn’t even know where to begin, letting his shoulders slump, his head fall into his hands, the secret he’d tried so hard to keep from his family, to keep everyone from worrying, from fussing over Selphie, who had enough to worry about.
It all came spilling out, and by the end of it, Nida was sobbing openly, incoherent.
“I think she’s going to die, and I don’t know what to do.”
Wendy sat there silently for a moment, squeezing Nida’s arm, digesting everything he’d said. All the things she wanted to say, but couldn’t - ‘no, it can’t be possible, not Selphie, she’s so young, so full of life!’ - all sounded like useless platitudes, things that Nida probably would not want - or need- to hear. She wasn’t sure just what he needed to hear right then and there, either.
“Tell me what’s happening, Nida,” Wendy finally said softly. “I thought Selphie looked a little pale the last time you brought her by, but....” She bit her lip. “I assumed it was the flu. There’s always an outbreak of something or other at Balamb Garden.”
Wendy leaned forward, elbows on her knees, and pinned Nida’s eyes with her own. “Tell me what I can do, Nida. Anything, anything at all - .” Her voice faltered slightly, but she caught her bearings again and steadied herself.
