This is not the end; this is fine. I sing that now. Maybe to someone else, for comfort in all this turmoil, cause the sea can be pretty heavy, trying out the quality of our little fishing boats. Or maybe it’s just to myself after discovery that this is not the end, this is fine.

So I decided to take a year off from touring. But where do you go? What do you do? Well I guess you don’t have to think about it too much, because life just keeps on happening. Relationships. Good dreams, bad dreams, beautiful days. Days where you have to struggle to see the beauty in ‘em. And you write songs about it.

And this time, it wasn’t just gonna be me in the studio. I promised myself that after last time. Last time, it was as cold and dark as Swedish winter gets. There were headphones flying, me doing 57 takes on songs I didn’t use, getting stuck in my own head all the time. So I promised myself next time it would be summer. It would be warm. I will wear shorts. I will go swimming when things doesn’t work out. And it won’t just be me.

The magnficient BJ Burton flew in at a time when the sun doesn’t really go down around here and sharing my love for broken sounds, sad notes, happy notes happening at the same time. And it all kinda came without a struggle… up until…

And somehow, from the get-go, we made them sound loud and powerful and naked at the same time. I can’t really play pell steel horns or drums but there’s no one out here to get us busted so we just made a lot of sounds. Luckily I have really talented friends that could come in, both here in Sweden and in Wisconsin, blowing me away how pretty they could make this thing.
