I don't really have any general on-repeat playlist per se, but I have made one for a horror/RPG story/game type thing that I've been writing for literally decades that's still in progress, so I will use that!
1. A Warm Place by Nine Inch Nails - Theme of one of my hero characters named Margot, a social worker who escaped a abusive marriage and then gets mixed up with and swept into the main protagonist's situation.
2. Horses in My Dreams by PJ Harvey - I have decided that my heroes each sort of have two themes, one to establish the character and one for when they fully actualize themselves. This is the second theme for another heroine, Heather, a young psychic.
3. Roads by Portishead - This is a pivotal story moment where a mysterious otherwordly presence who has been guiding the heroes shows the final moments of her normal life, and where her physical remains rest.
4. Lightning Song by Queens of the Stone Age - This is a song that the protagonist's friend liked to play on the guitar before being killed by the antagonist.
5. Swerve City by Deftones - This is Heather's first theme. Also mentions horses. But she is not a horse girl and would take great offense at the suggestion.
6. Intro by Warpaint - This is the main protagonist's first theme, but it's also only about half of the song. Like him, not fully realized. The foundation is there, but needs more.
7. My Song by Jerry Cantrell - Shuffle sure did give me a lot of character themes. This is the first of Simon, aka Switch, a down-on-his-luck rock musician (and husband to the subject of #3 on this list!).
8. #2/"Radiator" by Aphex Twin - Now we're getting into some horror! This is part of the "final dungeon", as it were, a tower consisting of physical manifestations of basically every nightmare ever had.
9. In Limbo by Radiohead - This is another big moment where the protagonist has to essentially tear down a dream world he made for himself to run away to whenever there were problems, in order to find what's underneath.
10. Keep Your Eyes Peeled by QOTSA - The protagonists have to go to a very dark, dangerous and seedy part of a big city to find help.
