Look at these freeloaders

Sarula was one of my roommates junior year. She stays up all night long and smothers everything in ketchup. Sometimes she eats too fast and gets gassy and tries to make herself burp by running into things. She likes her roommate’s dog and RuPaul’s Drag Race and funky fine art and cool looking indie comics that I don’t understand. She’s a well-versed feminist and has a love/hate relationship with anime. Senior year at least, she was a real memelord and told me I’d colored Pepe’s lips the wrong color. I imagine her life as very exciting and active cause she likes to be doing and seeing things all the time. I feel like she got me to go on adventures, which I miss.

She doesn’t remember this at all. 

This was my room senior year. It was very messy and dark. The window by my bed’s view was directly into our neighbors’ apartment’s window and the windows in the hall, so I put christmas fabric over it. The other two windows were half-size and faced the garbage out back. I had string lights up with origami lanterns and my room was the most popular bedroom for hanging out in, despite the fact it was a cave.

Julie the Dualie is still one of my closest friends from college. She’s a dualie, which means she’s a dual degree student, which means she went to RISD and Brown University AT THE SAME TIME, which means she’s wicked smart! Our brothers are really similar to each other but have never met. She’s very earnest and hardworking and showed me the BBC Pride and Prejudice series and we both think young Colin Firth is very attractive. She likes to make fun of me and fight me and she’s fun to prank cause she gets really mad but not too mad. Her art is very very cute and she loves Naruto and Eyeshield 21. 

I never stopped being scared of her.

This is Zach! My other roommate and friend from freshman year. I’ve always associated him with salmon because he has a ruddy complexion and seemed to wear a lot of greenish gray colors. He has great taste that changes often. In a horror movie he would be the character that charges ahead fearlessly into a stupid situation and gets the rest of us killed. He’s currently hiking the Appalachian and sporting a killer beard. 

Glinda was the first new friend I made at RISD freshman year and one of my roommates Senior year. Most of what she does seems to be informed by her obsession with staying warm. She hugs people for extended periods of time for the purpose of leaching off their body heat. She sings along to songs in sol-fa syllables and counts in Chinese. She is obsessed with a selection of foods for months at a time. One time she wanted a cannoli, but she couldn’t get a cannoli for an entire week and we all suffered for it. It’s been dubbed “The Week of the Cannoli.” Right now she’s into Mama Chia (which she calls frog juice), skate, and burrito bowls. She’s in love with the book series The Craft Sequence and ruins my life with it daily. You can hear her coming from a mile away because she stomps with all her force everywhere she goes. Nicknames for her include: G-force, Great Leader, The Glind, and GD Kickstorm Chen. She’s also an artist; her tumblr is @dandelionfoyer

Despite my descriptions of myself screaming, crying and yelling, I’m generally a very happy person (just an emotive one). 

The character line-up I will we working on will be reminiscent of The Amazing World of Gumball in it’s variety. As such, some characters will be drawn as animals, some as objects and some in different styles.
