[Ira is in an antique store in London when someone else enters. They look around before spotting the section with clocks. They go over and immediately start winding them all backwards]
@the-11th-hour
[He looks over and raises his eyebrows before walking over to the clock section to watch more closely.]
[It sets them all back several days worth of hours before looking satisfied and looking at their own watch and looking relieved. They seemed far too focused on their task to notice Ira was there]
[She continues to stare for a long while before eventually reaching out and tapping it on the shoulder.]
[They turn around]
Oh hello, am I in your way? I can move.
What are you doing?
[He continues to stare directly at them.]
Setting the clocks back.
âŚMay I ask why?
Because I should. It feels right. And now theyâre all in line. And on time.
âŚTheyâre not on time, though.
[She pulled out her phone and showed them the time. It was several hours ahead of what was displayed on the clocks.]
Hm.
[They go back through, turning each one backwards until they matched the time on the phone]
Fixed.
[They seemed very content with this.]
Thank you. Whatâs your name?
Ira.
And yourself?
Merlyn.
Are you here on holiday?
No. Iâm searching for acquisitions.
[This piques itâs interest]
Oh? What kind?
I collect strange and unusual artifacts.
What are you doing here?
The exact same, actually. And looking for paintings to restore. What a coincidence!
Oh, wonderful!
[She grins.]
Ah, itâs been so long since Iâve found somebody who shares my interest. Most people find it too⌠odd. Which is perfectly fine by me, but it isnât exactly conducive to a good conversation.
I never understood people finding it so odd. They love antiques roadshow but find it strange when you do the same thing? Granted most things on antiques roadshow arenât haunted, but yâknow. Tomato tomato, really
Personally, I think the hauntedness adds some more flavor to the whole thing.
People love to talk about how creepy their older findings are but never seem to appreciate a real supernatural connection. Itâs just ungrateful, really.
Thatâs what Iâm saying!!!
Literally I tell people about my job and they write me off like Iâm crazy. I wouldnât be studying it if it wasnât legit!

[Theres a loud bump sound and someone comes out of the tunnels and into artifact storage- wait- is that the archivist?]
@edalynn-pines
[Merlyn looks up from the vase theyâre cataloguing and lock eyes with her. They donât seem unfriendly, but their tone is flat.]
What are you doing in here?
[She looked over at Merlyn and smiled]
Hello! I- i dont know who you are, weird. Im here to look at artifacts, obviously... for archivist purposes.
Merlyn. Iâm new. And youâre the archivist they warned me about, arenât you?
AH! that explains it.
[She paused and laughed]
Warned? No, no, that must have been about Jonathan Sims, he's the concerning one. My name Edalynn Pines.
[She held out her hand for a handshake]
[It carefully removes itâs gloves and shakes her hand]
You are most definitely the one I was warned about. You have a lot of items due back here. And Iâve been told not to let you leave with any more. And to supervise you rather closely if you were ever to come in here.
I dont have anything due back, those are all mine. I found them myself so I deserve to keep them and I will die on that hill.
[She put her hands on her hips]
And I dont need to be supervised. Im very careful around artifacts, I promise.
[She smiled]
[Merlyn looks her over]
You have no gloves, no equipment on you, and you need to elaborate on âarchivist purposesâ. If you need a report we have those we can give you a copy of. We cannot give you the object itself.
All of you artifact people are such sticklers. Youre no fun. I just came to look at the leitners.
[They pause, their interest piqued]
Whatâs a Leitner?
Books from the library of jurgan leitner. Don't worry I know where they are. And I just need to look, I won't touch anything.
[She began to walk to the books]
[Merlyn follows quickly. It didnât seem like anything would stop this womanâs reckless charge towards the things she was not supposed to have. They told themself it just needed to supervise. But in truth, it was incredibly curious as to what made this Library of Jurgen Leitner so special]
Hey hey hold on, wait! I still need to come with you!
Dont worry, I assume youre following.
[She glanced back with a smile and walked up to a section of bookshelves with lots of old looking books. She started reading the spines and writing them down in her journal]
[Merlyn watches, looking curiously at the books themself]
Whatâs so special about these?
Theyre haunted- er- well- cursed? It has somthing to do with the fears, for example Ex Altiora seems to have a connection to the vast.
[She glanced up from her writing]
Cursed I can understand, but what is the Vast supposed to mean? Is there a category Iâm missing?
Yknow the fears? Its also called the falling Titan i think.
[Her eyes glimmered an unnatural green as she continued to write, this time adding things onto the names of the books]
The. . . huh.
[Itâd heard âFearsâ mentioned a few times now. Sometimes written in on objectsâ files. Theyâd tried to find out the origin of this system. Theyâd even tried to ask one of the people in the archives, but all theyâd given it was a written explanation in writing it wasnât even sure was native to planet earth.]
Falling Titan. . . Um. Okay.
You know the way this place categorizes things is like absolutely nothing Iâve ever seen before. Itâs very strange.
It is? I thought the system was fairly straight forward.
[She pulls one of the leitners off of the shelf and flips through it]
If you dont know about the fears, I wouldnt worry about it. Its alot, unless you want me to talk about it of course
Uh- hey!
[They snatch the book away from her, having put gloves on in a matter of a few seconds and shoving a second pair towards her]
Gloves! Please!
[She rolled her eyes and put the gloves on. She opened the book and began skimming the pages. And she hissed and dropped the book when it burned her hands]
Desolation then.
[She wrote this down, not paying attention to the burns on her hands]
[Merlyn catches and very quickly reshelves it, then looks at Edaâs hands, worried, though itâs tone does not change]
You should put something on that.
No, no its fine. It'll heal fairly quickly.
[She put the book back on the shelf and grabbed another book and opened it]
[Merlyn holds another pair of gloves out towards her]
You need to change your gloves. You just burnt the other ones.
Right. Right.
[She held the book under her arm and changed her gloves. The burns on her hands were... healed? Already?]
[It looks confused, but chooses not to comment. Making a face when Eda puts it under her arm so carelessly]
Thank you.
Whatâs that one?
Not sure yet
[She starts flipping through the pages and closed it almost immediately]
No thank you..
Not a good one?
[They pressed the tips of their fingers together, trying to read it over Edalynnâs shoulder]
Unless you want to lose all sense of reality and kill and eat people, dont read this one.
[She put it down on the shelf]
Hunt...
Um. . . got it.
[They give the book a strange look and push it a bit farther back onto the shelf.]
Hunt.
I feel like these should be under a little better of protection if theyâre that dangerous. Like. At least locked up or something.
[She cackled]
Elias doesnt care if people get hurt because of these books. As long as his special little institute is okay.
Well, somebody has to! What if someone comes in here and burns themself and then ends up knocking over something actually important? What if they sue us? These should be locked up somewhere.
Yknow these are hidden for a reason. No one knows how to find these things unless they've been down here a billion times.
[She paused]
I do suppose the tunnel entrance is also helpful
Yes, speaking of which, is there even a proper seal on that? That could ruin our temperature control in here.
[They have completely lost track of thinking about the Leitners and now were pacing around, rather distracted by the thought that the head of the institute did not care about the very valuable objects inside of it]
Literally they might be safer inside your office! I mean they would have to be properly sealed up and plastic wrapped and everything but that genuinely may be better that just on a shelf where anybody could stumble in and find them.
My office is VERY secure. I wouldnt mind keeping them in there
[She smiled]
You can do all of those preserving things i dont mind. Gosh, that darn Elias Bouchard. Such a bitch.
[For a moment they look rather excited at the prospect of this]
I could get them all neatly and properly preserved and-!
Wait. Wait wait wait. No no this is- this is a dumb idea. You just want them in your office. But. . . you make a good point. . .
[They click the tab on their watch and turn it back several days worth of hours]
Okay but Elias isnât the only one here. There are people that actually monitor stuff in here so if we were going to do this it would have to be sneaky and it would be a process. . .
I can give you a map of the tunnels. Those are GREAT for sneaking things around! Plus, who cares about some dusty old books? Everyone wants to burn the leitners anyway.
Burn them?
We canât have that. Dangerous or not you canât just *burn* information!
. . .
I think I would appreciate a map of the tunnels. . .
Ill have to draw a new one, I think I lent it to someone and they kept it... odd.
Ill have it for you by... say.. two days from now. I think I have to go back down there before then and refresh my memory.
[They nod]
I will work on the books. Um. Just to be clear this isnât a test and Iâm not going to get fired over this am I?
Why would this be a test? Oh- and dont worry about being fired, youll be fine I promise.
[She smiled]
I hope so. . .
Okay. Okay we could do this. Once I have the map Iâll bring you some!
Okay! Bye!
[She walked over to the entrance to the tunnels and left through it]
[Theres a loud bump sound and someone comes out of the tunnels and into artifact storage- wait- is that the archivist?]

[Ira is in an antique store in London when someone else enters. They look around before spotting the section with clocks. They go over and immediately start winding them all backwards]
@the-11th-hour

[Theres a loud bump sound and someone comes out of the tunnels and into artifact storage- wait- is that the archivist?]
@edalynn-pines
Thank you.
