Despite the playful words, it felt as though there were a shift in atmosphere, the heavier meaning behind Ace’s words fairly obvious - after all, the elder wasn’t like Jaeshin, he wore his heart on his sleeve and didn’t hide behind a cold exterior. Unable to hide the smile that crept onto his lips, Jaeshin looked down, fiddling with the sleeves of the shirt wrapped around his waist. “Oh,” he said, before scuffing his toe against the floor and keeping his head down, “maybe next time I’ll stay then,” he mumbled, scratching the back of his neck. It was almost a promise, a hint that he wanted to see him again, that he didn’t like these chance encounters and that he wanted to properly know him - and if Ace really meant it when he implied that he wanted to spend time with him, then surely he was sick of these chance encounters too? Surely he wanted their next encounter to be planned? He watched him curiously, wondering if Ace’s mind was spinning as rapidly as his (it probably wasn’t). He scoffed and rolled his eyes, hiding his fond smile. He really never missed an opportunity. “Not gonna happen, but nice try,” he said. Although, with the way he was staring at him, just a little too close and a little too far all at once, Jaeshin had a feeling that he knew that when it came to the two of them it wasn’t a question of if but when. (And maybe he was warming up to the idea, didn’t feel that urge to completely withdraw and hide from the advances anymore, but Ace didn’t need to know that). At the mention of how long it would take, he nodded, checking his watch. Maybe he would have time to join Xavier (who was stealing his perfect day out with his family) after all, or he supposed he could stay and watch Ace work. “Do I leave it overnight and get it in the morning, or, like…. give you my number and come back when it’s done?” He asked curiously, unsure what to do. At the mention of the price he shrugged. “It’s okay, my boss has –” he was cut off by Ace crowding him up against the vehicle, and there it was again, the dusting of pink splattered across his cheeks as he subconsciously leaned back his own hands gripping the edge of the open hood, eyes wide at the action. He opened his mouth to hiss out a what the fuck are you doing, Lim Jaewon, but the other was speaking before he could even begin to get the sentence out. His jaw hung open at Ace’s boldness, to really suggest something like that, though at this point he knew he was foolish to be surprised. “You really never miss a chance, huh?” He said, raising an unimpressed eyebrow. He chuckled at the suggestion. “Please, Ace, I’m sure everyone here knows all about your sex life,” he said, rolling his eyes, before he decided that two could play at this flirting game, and instead reached up to hook his hands into the top of his overalls and tug him closer. “Husband is just unbelievable,” he said, tipping his head to the side coyly and smirking at him, leaning in close so their noses were almost brushing. “Boyfriend, maybe, they’d believe that. Or do you think they’d think I’m just –” he walked his fingers up his chest, the other hand moving to hook his thumb into his front pocket and tug him closer, practically in his lap as he leaned languidly against the hood of his open car, “–another unsuspecting customer who’s succumbed to your self-proclaimed charms?”
although jaeshin’s words were casual, ace still managed to catch the silent promise that lingered behind them — that perhaps jaeshin wouldn’t stay, but he would come, and it was all he needed for now. truth be told, the mechanic would be satisfied to settle for having those flirty little conversations back, even if they would lead nowhere, as long as he could maintain any sort of contact with the other. thankfully, based on the way the younger man acted around him now, seemingly remorseful about all the running and ignoring, ace was confident they could continue whatever this was ... in one way or another — however, he did need a phone number. ace was shocked at himself how far they’d gotten without any communication through social media and texts, and as much as he liked having lived in the old ages for a bit, where phones hadn’t existed yet, it was just INCONVENIENT. perfect timing, ace thought, as jaeshin brought up the idea of giving him his number and there was no way in hell he’d pass up the opportunity. “ no need to leave it overnight. i can start with your car immediately, so — ” he smiled sheepishly, offering that familiar grin that was a WARNING for whatever that was about to come. “ number sounds good. my phone is lonely without your digits. ” chuckling, he drew in even closer, watching jaeshin’s face carefully to gauge every reaction. he wasn’t surprised to catch a glimpse of the same roseate tint embellishing his cheeks and even relished in the fact that he could still shock him, even after establishing that ace was definitely the bold & unapologetic type. though there was no denying that jae didn’t fall behind; it was clear in the way he curled his fingers into his overalls to bring him even closer and ace just continued drinking in every smirk that’d subconsciously dance on his lips, every curl of them desperately trying to hide the amusement, every gorgeous and, truthfully, pants-dropping look he’d send him just to challenge the elder. it was no wonder why ace kept craving to come back; it was always really fucking rewarding. the memories from their last night together came rushing back ( he’d already replayed it like a thousand times ), which only urged ace to throw his head back a little, beaming widely with a small scoff escaping his throat as he shot him a look from under his lashes. they were still pressed together, with ace’s legs straddling jae’s and — well, look at that: isn’t the night repeating itself now? “ please, ” he started, mocking jaeshin from earlier as he now leaned in, bringing his hand up to cup the younger man’s neck, thumbing along the jawline, “ you give me no credit. you think i’d do this to any other customer? ” with that, he didn’t even give the other a chance to reply as ace crashed their lips together, painting the man’s neck with some grease. hey, at least he wasn’t getting it on his clothes.
