Ok, if Tuesdayās broken, Iām genuinely scared right now
Remember that thing I said? About nice people here? Yeah, Iām regretting that statement.

Wendy doesnāt even flinch at the mention of Lukasā¦
āOh, oh yeah, I agree with you!ā he said, a little too excitedly. He was surprised to hear her go on about the significance of astrology and stars in other cultures, and he found his mind immediately racing with examples. āItās interesting to me how different parts of the world drew similar conclusions on what different stars and things in space meant, like comets always being represented as destruction, or the milky way being associated with the idea of an ouroboros.ā
Ok, yeah, time to shut up, that was already too much information coming out of his mouth. But at the same time, Wendy didnāt seem to mind? Better to be safe than sorry, though. After all, his grandparents always told him he could put anyone to sleep with how much he could go on about these things. Though, they were mostly joking whenever they said that. Right?
In his awkwardness, heād left the food heād ordered unattended. He picked up his fork and started on the slice of cake in front of him as Wendy moved on to the topic of video games again.
āThatās impressive that he won. Iā¦actually play animal crossing too. I guess its sort of embarrassing to most guys, but I stopped caring about it a while ago, and just sort of learned not to talk about it. Pokemonās fun too, though I tend to play more horror games. Not so much for the scare factor, as much as the stories.ā
āHorror games, huh? Iāve never really been into those⦠I, uh, I get spooked pretty easily. My siblings always used to make fun of me whenever I watched any of them play horror games,ā Wendy rolled her eyes instinctively and took another sip of her now cooled-down coffee. āI think the only horror game that I distinctly remember being able to play was one called Ib, but I donāt remember it very clearly at all. Iām not even sure if that was considered one or not.ā
She pauses for a moment to let everything sheād said soak in. Then, after Lukas had taken a bite of his cake, she jumped at the opportunity to go back to the topic of astrology. He was the first person to understand why itās interesting to her, so why not enjoy that topic for a little bit longer?
āAlso, um⦠In reference to astrological stuff, I think itās really interesting how the Chinese associated the known planets at the time with different elements in nature, and different animals to represent those elements. If I remember correctly, it was the planet Venus that was associated with Metal, and that in turn was associated with the white tigerā Ah, and before you ask why I know all that specifically, my mother was Chinese and always had an interest in the cultural importance of the planets and stars. I guess I picked that up from her.ā
āIād count Ib as a horror game, but thatās what Iām talking about with story stuff. I like the stories from those kinds of games more than I enjoy getting scared, though, getting startled is...kind of fun?ā
He visibly perked up again as the topic changed to astrology once more.Ā āReally? I havenāt heard of that. I just enjoy researching this stuff in my spare time. I canāt really remember what got me so interested in it, but...ā he shrugged as he trailed off.Ā
āItās nice to know Iām not the only one who likes this stuff. Usually people look at me like Iām crazy if I start going on about it,ā and for the first time that Wendy had seen today, Lukas allowed himself to smile softly. Albeit that it was short lived, as his default expression returned once he continued.Ā
āA lot of the stuff I know as far as astrology and astronomy in history tends to be more Western-centric. Can you tell me more about the how the Chinese associated elements with planets and animals?

āItās not very often that Iām thrown into this sort of situation. So itās not my fault if today ends up boring, okay?ā
This was the first thing that Wendy said to Lukas when they met up for their date. Her first impression of him wasnāt a bad one. For the most part, Lukas seemed to be decent, for lack of a better term. He was dressed nicely and wasnāt too terribly overbearing, which was a big relief.
That being said, Wendy was still rather prickly toward him. In all fairness, it was a rare occurrence for Wendy to go out with anyone; she rarely hung out with friends, and even more rarely had time she was willing to spend goofing off. Even if this was only an organized event run by the studio, she was still on edge about this whole thing.
Wendy now fiddled with the drawstring of her hoodie as she sat across from Lukas at a small cafe. The latter of the two had been doing most of the talking for the first few minutes of their ādateā, but now things had fallen silent. The awkward tension she felt was nearly tangible on her end, so Wendy cleared her throat and began to speak up.
āHey, uh⦠Sorry if I ruined the mood for this whole fake date thing earlier, or whatever. Not that it really matters to me or anythingā Apologizing is just the polite thing to do, you know?ā
āAh- no, itās fine. A fake date seems a bitā¦unnecessary anyways. But I guess with that kind of mindset, Iām probably more of a downer here than you are.ā
Likewise, Lukas had never been on a date or even an outing of this caliber. He may have dated in the past, but things were never serious, and certainly not serious enough to put a lot of thought into plans for the romantic holiday. Besides, he wasnāt one for cliches, and looking around at the cafeās decor, he noted that this was the last place heād have expected to ever be on Valentineās day. He turned to look back at Wendy.
Wendy, in his mind, wasnāt bad. Certainly not as bad as some of the other idols with the company who had already gained a reputation of sorts for being veryā¦brash, or extravagant, or incredibly narcissistic. Lukas couldnāt tell, frankly, if these were all personas that his fellow idols put on, or if these were their true colours. Wendy seemed no different, but from what he could tell, she had good intentions, even if she tried not to show it.
āSorry if Iām not doing so well with conversation, either. This is just a weird experience.ā He clears his throat awkwardly.Ā āWe could start with basics? Like, interests. Hobbies. Favourite things?ā Yeah, great idea Lukas, the master of small talk.
Ah, yes, small talk. One of many things that made socializing difficult for Wendy. Itās never been easy for her to open up to others in a private setting. On stage, she could be considered expressive, but behind the scenes she much preferred to keep to herself. Her sister had made the mistake of being too open about herself, andā Well, thatās a story for another day.
By now, Wendy had quit fiddling with her hoodieās drawstring to allow herself to bite her lip in thought. She wasnāt sure how to explain her interests, since hers werenāt very numerous. A lot of her time was spent working out to keep in shape for the various dance routines she had performed in the past, or vocal exercises despite her distaste for singing. At the very least, Wendy was willing to try to share a couple of her interests with Lukas.
Then, taking a sip of the coffee sheād ordered after arriving, Wendy reluctantly made eye contact for the first time, āIām really interested in astrology. Star signs, planetary alignments, and other things of that nature. I actually spend a lot of the free time I have reading about it⦠Another thing I enjoy is playing video games. I donāt usually play too often, so i guess Iām a āfilthy casualā as some would say, but I try to ignore them. They really arenāt worth my time anyway.ā
Lukas nodded as she listed off some of her interests. Video games were a common interest, but she seemed touchy on the subject, and he wasnāt one for more common games anyway. Astrology was certainly interesting though.
āZodiacs, huh? I donāt know that I keep up with them for my own sake, but Iāve read a lot about them in different cultures and how star signs and things were used throughout history. Itās really interesting-ā He stopped himself before he could go on about them. Good first impressions didnāt generally start with info-dumps about historical things.Ā
āI, uh, I like history, and I like video games too. Not so much the popular stuff, or shooters or anything, but still. I usually spend my free time reading at home, or researching stuff...for...fun.ā He cringed slightly as he let that bit of information slip. Who the Hell researches for fun? Thatās just going to give her an opening to call her a nerd. āNot that sheād be wrong,ā he thought.
āSo...why Astrology? What do you like about it?ā
āItās not very often that Iām thrown into this sort of situation. So itās not my fault if today ends up boring, okay?ā
