Doubting myself? Oh who cares, ain't nobody got time for that.

"Another fear of me: my turning 50. I'm supposed to know everything. I'm supposed to sit down there and be a role model and teach everybody all the stuff. And when you think you're a role model, guess what?! You're not. If you're trying to be a role model, you're not. Being yourself and the best self you can be? Then maybe you'll be a role model to somebody."
James Hetfield (Metallica)
Don't go too hard on yourselves. Even grand musicians like Beethoven and Mozart needed to learn the basics before becoming who they were in their prime. #motivational

"A Sticky Situation" (1960) by Carl Barks
I like how advertising is literally still exactly as sexist as they’re joking about in this comic from 54 years ago.

How to fail at losing things you want to lose, to start with.
Hi lads!
It's been a bloody while since I've blogged to my heart's content. Mostly it is because of a little bit of negative energy, and I got a double dose of it in a matter of roughly 3 days.
Where should I start? I visited a conference last Saturday. It was all about work, internships and how to "handle it all" under "my condition". It was organized by the association for those with "my condition". But as the presentations progressed, I felt a bit insulted. The first couple of presentations were all about what "people like me" can't do. When you hear things like that, especially from the association improving business relations for "my kind", it is just painful. Instead of actually being there for me, they actually took me down along with the self esteem. I was to stay for several hours after that day's lunch, but I left shortly after finishing lunch. Yesterday night, I kept awake until midnight. With the internship the next day (today), it was a very bad idea. The thought just expressed was intensified by none other than the Dutch Prime Minister. He was a guest at the daily talk show in the Netherlands, called "Pauw en Witteman". He talked about people that need to get some work, because they plan to cut on financial support. And what did he use for examples? Exactly, "my kind of people"! What a bloody surprise! He made some very stupid, stereotypical mistakes. For example, he claimed that everyone with "my condition" was good at developing software, and -- here's the crux -- claimed that everyone with "my condition" were leaning on financial support. These two claims enraged me. For one, not all people with "this condition" are good with developing software, and not all of these people lean on financial support. It's just pitiful that such a high standing politician can think he could treat all of these people as one and the same. There's some kind of elections to be held tomorrow, but he lost my vote by saying something so stereotypical.
I'm not that angry about him, but it is just pitiful that such a high standing politician isn't really educated. if he really wanted to win some votes, he should have said something smarter.
Should I go for a long post? Yeah, I should do that. Because it's not just all bad and such. I'm learning a lot about Responsive Design. In the search of something to do with the project currently handled at work, the lead developer pointed out that, if there's going to be an app somewhere in the future, the website should be acting accordingly. So I have been struggling with some elements for a couple of days, but by the looks of it, I'm almost done. I'm going to visit some friends this Thursday as well, looking forward to it! :D
And to top it off, the new phone is to be arriving this week. :)
If you got questions, just hit the ask box. ;)
I'd like to start something new! I'd give you all just 10 days, and each day, you must post some song which has a special meaning to you. Each day has a theme, and the first day is: "A Link to the Past"*.
If there's on particular song that takes me back to the old days, and sends chills down my spine, every single time... it would be this.
This song, performed by Vangelis, is the only thing I could remember from one of my grandfathers. He passed away at a very young age without knowing him that well. The only thing I can remember, is that he would love to watch tennis all day, and this song was played, each time I came to visit him. I guess he loved it, and I was told the same shortly after his funeral.
Since then, I become very, very quiet when I hear this. Mostly because it reminds me of a missed chance, and what was talked about as a interesting man.
1/10
*Note: Do NOT post anything related to the Legend of Zelda franchise.
