- Never made it through a whole book until his grandfather told him to read The Outsiders.

- Decided to eat chocolate cake for 80 takes and thought he was going to die.
- Overate at lunch one day and didn’t feel well enough to do the flip off of the truck before the rumble so S.E. Hinton had him swallow raw eggs until he threw up.
- Wouldn’t let Rob Lowe win the arm-wrestling contest even though that was what was supposed to happen in the script.
- Got the script for Risky Business while filming The Outsiders.
- Invited Diane Lane to audition with him because he had a crush on her.
- Got yelled at by Diane Lane’s father for asking her to play a hooker.
- Lived on Rob Lowe’s couch at some point in the 80s.
- Asked Emilio Estevez to be the best man at his first wedding.
- Was eventually introduced to someone who worked at the hotel where the cast stayed and the first thing he said to them was “I’m sorry.”
