10 Commonly Used Filipino Words
1. Salamat (Thank you) - a polite expression used when acknowledging a gift, service, or compliment, or accepting or refusing an offer. Example: Salamat sa tulong- Thank you for the help.
2. Kamusta? (How are you?) - a question asked to know someone’s feelings or current situation. Example: Kamusta na kayo diyan?- How are you there?
3. Oo  (Yes) - used to give an affirmative response. Example: Oo pwede mo itong hiramin bukas.- Yes, you can borrow it tomorrow.
4. Hindi (No or Not) - not any. - used to indicate that something is quite the opposite of what is being specified. Example: Hindi na kailangan- No need
5. Ako (I or Me) - used by a speaker to refer to himself or herself. Example: Ako ang panganay. - I am the eldest.
6. Ikaw  (You) - used to refer to the person or people that the speaker is addressing. Example: Ikaw lang sapat na. - You are enough.
7. Sarap (Delicious) - highly pleasant to the taste. Example: Mas masarap kung hindi overcooked. - It is more delicious if it is not overcooked.
8. Paumanhin (Sorry) - feeling distress, especially through sympathy with someone else's misfortune. Example: Paumanhin at natapakan kita. -Sorry for stepping onto you.
9. Paalam (Farewell) - used to express good wishes on parting.   Example: Paalam kaibigan- Farewell friend
10.  Mabuhay (Long live) - said to express loyalty or support for a specified person or thing. Example: Mabuhay ang Pilipinas - Long live Philippines
