Here is the list of prompts for the upcoming TGAMM Countdown fandom event. The Ghost and Molly McGee is going to premiere on 1/Oct in Disney Channel. We decided to hold this event to create hype throughout September all the way to it’s premiere. Have fun!

It’s about 13 year old optimistic girl named Molly that moves in with her family to her new house.There she finds a grumpy ghost named Scratch that puts a curse on her to haunt her wherever she goes. The curse itself backfires when Molly stars calling Scratch her best friend and he realizes he finds himself forever bound to Molly and her friendly optimistic personality.

What is the TGAMM Countdown?

The ¨The Ghost and Molly Mcgee Countdown¨ (TGAMM Countdown) is a fandom event that is going to last a month. The event will take place on September. It will consist on people who want to participate in drawing fanart based on the list of promtps. The list has 18 promtps, around 3-4 prompts for each one of the first three weeks and then the last week before the series’ premiere is going to have a prompt for each day of that week.

Hi to cartoon and animation fans! In the TGAMM discord we are organizing an upcoming fandom event to hype up the The Ghost and Molly Mcgee’s premiere date that is going to be in October 1st after the Disney Channel film ¨Under Wraps¨ premiere.

What is ¨The Ghost and Molly McGee¨?

The Ghost and Molly Mcgee is an upcoming musical comedy animated show created by Bill Motz and Bob Roth. Every episode is going to last 11 minutes containing 1 long minute song each one. While the series’ episodes are going to be self contained, it’s also going to have continuity and story arcs similar to shows like Big City Greens and Craig of the Creek.

The series is going to premiere on October 1st at night after the ¨Under Wraps¨ film’s premiere around 9:45 PM.

Disney Attends TCA Summer Tour With Diversity In Animation Panel, Showcases Footage Of The Ghost And Molly McGee, Moon Girl And Devil Dinosaur, The Proud Family Louder And Prouder & Rise Up Sing Out

Disney Had A Panel 2 Days Ago Discussing Diversity In Animation at TCA Summer Tour.

Between The Panel The Logo Of Disney Junior’s Rise Up Sing Out was unveiled along with previous for that show, Moon Girl And Devil Dinosaur ,The Ghost And Molly McGee and The Proud Family Louder And Prouder.

Our pals at Laughing Place gave us some highlights on the panel which was mostly focused on Molly, Rise Up & Moon Girl  

The Ghost And Molly McGee

“There’s actually a whole episode about Molly being biracial and not quite having as much connection to her Thai roots as she wishes that she had,” actress Ashly Burch revealed, a trait that she shares with the character she voices. “It was so meaningful to me because I’m a ‘white-passing,’ biracial woman who often feels like I’m not Thai enough or doesn’t know quite what that means. And that episode is written by two Asian women who can really speak to that experience

Ashly also shared her personal perspective on why it would be meaningful for toys of Molly to exist. “I played with an Esmerelda doll because it was the closest I could get. Basically. I was like, you know, she’s brown, kind of works. But then if a toy comes out of any of these characters, then you get to hold a toy and play with a toy that looks like you and is your culture.”

This could change since Disney trademarked merchandise plans for the series.

Moon Girl And Devil Dinosaur

Set to premiere in 2022, Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is based on a comic series about a 13-year-old super-genius named Lunella Lafayette who accidentally brings a 10-ton T-Rex to present-day New York City, naming him Devil Dinosaur. “I’m somebody who’d collected comic books, both DC and Marvel, and I used to read Moon-Boy and Devil Dinosaur, which is the original book created by Jack Kirby way back in the day,” explained legendary actor Laurence Fishburne, who serves as executive producer on the show. “When they updated it, I went to meet with Louis D’Esposito and the other cats over at Marvel, and we were trying to figure out a way for me to sort of enter into their world. And they showed me that book and they said, ‘What about this?”’ I was like, “‘Yeah, okay, we know what to do with that.’”

“You can’t be what you can’t see,” Fishburne added, referring to the importance of having characters that kids can connect with in mainstream media. “As a child, it’s very important for you to be able to see examples of what you want to be, and to have the opportunity to do that here, to be able to create that for yourself.” With Disney Channel’s huge audience and Marvel’s gigantic fanbase, there seems to be infinite possibilities with this series. “Our animation team has been working really hard on trying to create a look that is kind of fresh and something that is going to catch the eye of the viewer.”

Rise Up Sing Out:

This musical Disney Junior animated short series teaches preschoolers important concepts around race, racism, and social justice designed to inspire and empower young minds. Debuting later this year, Rise Up, Sing Out features music from Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter, who also executive produce the series. The Conscious Kid, an organization dedicated to equity and promoting healthy racial identity development in youth, is working with the creators on a companion guide for parents as well.

I didn’t see anyone who looked like me or who came from places that looked like where I was from in animation,” Tariq Trotter explained. “I’m sure that’s had some effect on me. It definitely has helped to shape my worldview. Just the opportunity to speak to our youngest audience when they’re in this most impressionable stage is super important. I think that representation across the board is super important.” The diversity isn’t exclusive to the content appearing on screen, either. “Part of what appealed to us about this relationship was how diverse everyone in the room was when we all sort of got together” “Black Thought” added. “I think they make it a priority here at the studio.”

The Ghost And Molly McGee Gets October 1st Premiere Date

Disney is having a panel at TCA Summer Tour and they are unveiling many stuff from Disney Branded Television and Disney TVA, one of the announcements is The Ghost And Molly McGee with the long awaited series premiere 

“The Ghost and Molly McGee” (Friday, Oct. 1, 9:35 p.m. EDT/PDT on Disney Channel) – The animated buddy-comedy follows tween optimist Molly (voiced by Ashly Burch), who lives to make the world a better place, and grumpy ghost Scratch (voiced by Dana Snyder), whose job is to spread misery. When one of Scratch’s curses backfires, he finds himself forever bound to Molly.

The animator talks about some frames and changes he had to do for opening and what details Mercury Studios added.

It's lasts 7-8 minutes, so it isn't that long. It doesn't say too much about the show (story and characters) but is still interesting to watch.

Those who were wondering about Molly´s ethnicity: She is Thai (Thailand) and American. Her design and background were inspired by her voice actress Ashly Burch who is also Thai and American (white).

Not that i´m aware of. All that i know is that Molly’s design is based of her voice actress Ashly Burch. I assume that Molly´s family is based of Ashly´s family too. For example: Molly´s mother is thai just like Ashly´s mother is an immigrant from Thailand. I wouldn´t be surprised if they shared the same name.

His personality is somewhat based of Bob Roth’s, one of the creators of the series. (Confirmed in the New York panel)

He is voiced by Dana Snyder.

He was already living in the house before the Mcgee family moves there at the start of the series. Because he doesn’t want to share his space with Molly he puts a curse on her to torment her. (Confirmed in the panel)

The curse makes him bound to Molly, he has to follow her wherever she goes. He can also be “summoned” by her.

He knows that there is a way to break the curse according to what he says in the two minute sneak peek. It is implied he has to make the Mcgee family leave the house or the town to break the curse.

Since he is a ghost he is able to shapeshift and change his form to whatever he likes as seen in the opening and the sneak peek of the series. It hasn’t been stated if this ability is unique of his or if it is a standard ghost ability.

As for his age, he appears to be between his 40’s or 60’s. It hasn’t been revealed if he used to be human or he is just a spectre.

His personality has been described as someone who likes spreading misery and misfortune, which contrasts with Molly’s personality. Dana Synder talked in the New York Panel about how Scratch is someone who tries to be a jerk but deep down he wants to make friends. He seems to be one those characters that may look like a jerk at first look but after getting to know them you learn that they aren’t that bad.

Related to the last point, Scratch is very unpopular in the Ghost World. As shown in the short flashback in the two minute speak peek he was called by the “popular” ghosts as one of “the worst of worst ghosts”. He is shown to be very sad by this before he is quickly kicked off by the ghost guard. It has yet to be reveal the reason of why he is so unpopular among ghosts. This is also a touchy subject for him: When Molly asks him about it, he gets very nervous and lies to her about his real status.

He loves eating a lot. This is shown both in the opening and the animatics songs

After the Mcgees move to the house, Scratch appears to start living inside a dollhouse found in Molly´s room. This is seen very briefly in the 2 minute sneak peek right before Molly calls Scratch. It could be assumed this dollhouse was already in the house or it was Molly´s.

One of the reasons he dislikes being stuck with Molly so much is because of her very optimistic and friendly personality.

He becomes close to Molly later in the series.

She’s Thai-American. The Thai part comes from her mother as seen in the intro.

Her design is based of her voice actress Ashly Burch who is Thai and White (American). Ashly’s mother is an inmigrant from Thailand.

The Mcgee family has “moved a lot”. It’s not explained why they do this but my guess is that it has to do with Mr and Mrs’ jobs.

Besides two parents, Molly has a little brother.

Molly seems to have an artistic side since multiple drawings in her room can be seen in the 2 minute sneak peek. The Opening hints this aspect as well when Molly tries explaining the curse to her family by using her drawings.

When it comes to her personality, She has been described as someone who is very optimistic and wants to help people. In the 2 minute sneak peek she says she “loves making people happy”.

However, Ashly Burch has talked about Molly is a bit different from other “Happy optimistic girls” because she has to learn tons of lessons in the series.

She bound to Scratch cause of the curse he put on her. Despite this she doesn’t seem to be scared at all by the ghost.

Scratch puts this curse on her because he doesn’t want to share the house he haunts with the Mcgee family, especially Molly. (Confirmed in the panel)

She can “summon” Scratch to make him appear by her side when he is a few metres away from her as demostrated in the opening and the 2 minute sneak peek. It has yet to be revealed if Scratch can do the same thing.

She loves giving people hugs as seen in the opening.

She has a friend who is very close to her. It hasn’t been stated if she used to know this girl before moving or if she meets her during the events in the series. (See animatics songs)
