I’ve been at this since like September. Originally the plan was to do five panels but by the time I reached three I realized it was absolutely going to be too heavy. If the back bothers me then I’ll just buy some black fabric and sew it on.

I pinned it excessively since I have been warned the feathers won’t flatten unless blocked aggressively. They still don’t behave themselves 100% but again, if it bothers me I’m willing to steam block it in the future. Super fun before and after pics.

Pattern is of course the feathered wings shawl by my favorite pattern designer craftyintentions.

Ryland finds Atlantis, duh, but was it for an 'archeological' expedition or is the Earth dying and Atlantis is rumored to have just what they need. Is the whole crew from A:tLE there too? (Replaced with PHM characters) Or is it just three people like in PHM?

Also, I love your art style!✨️ It fits Ryland and Rocky so well, it scratches my brain 😁

TBH I'm still figuring out this AU since it was one of those spur of the moment crossover/au sketches haha 😅 The idea I had was that in this AU the astrophage would be more like a mysterious plague/bacteria that is destroying the environment and resources on Earth's surface, and humanity has to find a solution to stop the spread. The expedition to Atlantis is established since humanity figures that since the oceans aren't affected by the spread, the answer must lie beneath the waters.

Stratt would be more like Mr. Whitmore, but less caring towards Grace, and just wants Grace to do his job on the expedition. For the Shepherd's Journal, I was thinking it'd contain information about the Atlanteans and Eridians, and Grace is able to decipher the Eridian numerals and some Atlantean text (with help from other scientists involved in the expedition) to locate Atlantis. In terms of the expedition party itself, after the Leviathan attack, Grace would be left by himself to wander through the Atlantean caves until he encounters Rocky. Rocky and the Eridians and Atlanteans believe that the solution to their similar blight is on the surface, hence how Grace and Rocky come across each other on their journey in the caves. For this AU the Eridians and Atlanteans would live harmoniously together, but the Eridians just can't go into the water without a crystal xenonite suit.

In terms of the crystal choosing Grace and the threat that causes it, I was thinking that in this AU the royal family ventured out with Rocky's crew, but did not survive. Without royal blood for the crystal to choose, it chooses Grace instead since it views Grace's growing bravery and determination as the best fit to save Atlantis. The big threat for the final battle would be the astrophage bacteria overrunning so much of Atlantis to the point where it is consuming and destroying at an alarming rate. For the solution to destroying the blight, like the taumoeba, I haven't really thought that far ahead...but I would like for it to have connection with the crystal being able to alter the structure of the blight to destroy it (and in a way where if it was brought to the surface could only be used on the bacteria and not used as a weapon).

Also with Crystal Grace, this form would latch onto his emotions of frustration, anger and sadness, but also focus on his inner bravery rather than his cowardice. In this form he not only understands what it's like existing as an Eridian, but also a greater understanding of how to protect Atlantis and the surface from the collective consciousness of the crystal. (also I just wanted to draw cool monster esque Grace using ancient crystal powers hahha)

Again, it's still a very very spur of the moment AU, but it's been fun coming up with stuff, even if I'm still figuring it out haha :)

However, just keep in mind that none of these stretches will help you if you have a herniated disc, which compresses the nerve roots that protrude from the spine itself! For that you’ll for sure need some different medical intervention.
