I’ve been thinking a lot about @gladie_band’s new album “Safe Sins,” since they released it Friday (2/28/20), and I decided to write some words about it... “Safe Sins” is a beautiful, sonic representation of the constant mental cycle that most of us struggle with on a daily basis - a restless mind actively trying to calm itself in any way it knows how. Sometimes it’s successful. Sometimes it’s not, intrusive thoughts always finding a way to break through. And sometimes, it falls somewhere in between; certain parts of the album feel as if they are using slow and tranquil instrumentation to willfully suppress the still unsure thoughts that come out in the lyrics. More than anything, this album reassures me (and, I hope, countless others) that I am not alone. And despite all the internal doubt, there is still a hopefulness intertwined throughout the album. There is not only a desire to feel better, but there is also concrete evidence that steps have been made in the right direction and will continue to do so. So @ericafreas, being the incredible human she is, sent me an advanced copy of her new album “Young” before its release THIS FRIDAY (Feb 28th).
