In all fairness, I think Arsenal gets the most attention out of all the wsl clubs. I would say even when Chelsea was winning everything left and right they didn’t have that strong pr aspect that Arsenal does.
Probably. They just have/had the most impressive collection of popular players over the years. That doesn’t mean Chelsea’s players aren’t impressive. But Arsenal kinda always had the most popular ones. And by now, playing for Arsenal makes you popular in itself.

Honestly? No idea. All we know so far is that the media contract will be negotiated by the new FBL instead of the DFB after next season. And I do have hope in them being smarter than the DFB. But I don’t think they will give up the money from DAZN and MagentaSport. If those two are even interested in continuing with the Bundesliga. It’s quite annoying how in the open everything is right now.

Don't you think Union is up when you come from Freiburg? The transfers they did so far and the infrastructure they provide and money they pay seems to show a clear picture of the ambition of that club. I could definitely see them challenging for a top 3 spot next season. Especially since there has not been much news from Frankfurt in regards to new signings. Leverkusen did some good moves on the transfer market but all in all I think union is a real contender.
I see where you are coming from. And the take definitely isn’t wrong. I, personally, just don’t see it happen. There has been a lot of noise surrounding Union Berlin last season already. And then they ended up far behind their own expectations. That doesn’t mean they will fail again!! But I won’t believe Union Berlin actually coming for spot 3 until I see it. 🙈
The Frankfurt case always surprises me a bit. Yeah, they definitely need more signings but they already announced two top transfers. For Frankfurt standards, we are pretty much where we always are this time of the year. 😅

It’s always going to be like that especially with big clubs. Fans will always behave like that when their players leave. We saw that with Arsenal as well with how gunners were acting when McCabe joined Chelsea. It sort of bothers me when fans try to say it’s only Barca fans or only Bayern fans or only Man City fans and so on. It’s all fans. All fans can be annoying, parasocial and get sad and sometimes even overreact when their players decide to leave. We can’t put the blame on a single club and its supporters.
Exactly. I mean, it’s not all fans but some fans of all clubs but I think that’s what you meant. And the more fans a club has, the louder they are. And the higher the possibility that assholes will be among them.
That’s not a free pass tho. We should nonetheless call out fans for openly insulting players. But it’s not goes for all clubs.
Some barca fans annoy me. They expect everyone to stay and play for the club even when they’re being paid far less than their actual value. How can we be mad at players for wanting to earn more? Obviously, there’s a limit, but Barça isn’t even investing properly in their women’s team. They’re always talking about financial problems, yet they have no issue spending huge amounts on the men’s team, and nobody expects those players to accept lower salaries. Literally all we hear about are budget cuts, and it’s always the women who are expected to accept them, even though they’ve been the club’s most successful team in recent years.
Barca has just been getting very young players that they don’t have to pay much and that’s okay for the moment but not sure how long it will last. CGH, marta, Irene are not gonna be able to stay much longer so they will only relay much on aitana and patri which obviously world class players but still
I don’t think that’s only a Barça problem. Whenever players leave a popular club on their own terms (not talking about players who were forced to go), there are people blaming the players for it. And to a certain extent, that’s understandable. You don’t have to be happy about a player leaving. Especially if they decide to join a rival. But there are, of course, boundaries. And every club has a few fans ignoring those boundaries.
We can see it a lot with Barcelona right now bc they a) have a huge fan base on social media and b) a lot of departures rn. But we have seen it with countless other clubs too. Arsenal with McCabe, Eintracht Frankfurt with Merle Frohms, Wolfsburg with Lena Oberdorf, Man United with Alessia Russo…I could list many more. Idiots are everywhere. Sadly.
Your completly right the wsl doesn’t get equal treatment between clubs, altough i do feel that you have like 4 ‘big’ clubs, whereas in other leagues it’s often only 2 (for that the nwsl is good, one of the only good qualities tbf). But i would love to see more attention to other than the big clubs but i think (know actually) that that has to do with the fact that that’s were all the big names are, and obviously were the most money is. Money is such a big factor in why women’s football isn’t yet at the competition levels we hope to reach
That’s true. With having five club in the media (Chelsea, Man City, Man United, Arsenal & LCL) the WSL is already on top in Europe.
I really hope the Europa Cup will continue to grow bc that could be a great opportunity for mid-table clubs to show themselves.
I also thought about doing a side-blog focusing on less popular clubs in the WSL and Liga F (bc as far as I’m aware those don’t really exist yet) but honestly? I don’t think people are actually interested in that. Send me links to blogs tho who posts about lesser known teams tho!! Would love to follow them!
