As someone who takes the highest dosage of zoloft (setraline) possible for my body in order to function as a “normal” human being, allow me to assure you that if I ever hear you talking shit about needing to take meds, I will pull your head out of your arse and smack it into the nearest wall.

This is good, the one thing I’ll point out is that sometimes antidepressants will make you numb- it’s happened to me and my sister- but that’s a sign you’re on the wrong one. So if it happens, go back to your doctor and say you want to try a new one.

Don’t tell someone not to take their meds- especially if you have no clue about how they work or affect people. I had a boyfriend in college ( who self medicated with weed daily) tell me my issues were made up and to go off my meds. He meant well, he really did- he thought needing pills to be happy was bad (but the irony of him using weed to do so was lost on us both). But he was also kind of a big ignorant dummy and so was i. Don’t do that.

I take Zoloft so that i do not turn into a werewolf every month. I do not miss going through hell, the difference is amazing.

Funny this shows up on my dash today since I just got back from the doctor to ask about taking medication for depression/anxiety. I've been resisting for a really long time and denying I have a serious problem because of how my family would react. Now that I have my own insurance and support from those around me that are familiar with mental health issues, I've finally decided to seek treatment. Reading this made me feel a lot better about it, I can't wait to feel like a normal person.
