You know at first I didn't believe it when fiber artists on tumblr would tell me to be wary of the fiber art slippery slope. And yet. I hear the siren call of the spindle. Fellow crafters help me resist. Tie me to the fucking mast. Please.
Okay BUT. Learning to spin opens up new possibilities for yarn for knitting or crochet. There's a book I have that I haven't read yet but had recommended to me and I have now in my growing "to read" pile called Yarnitecture: a Knitter's Guide to Spinning and it's about building exactly the yarn you need for certain projects.
You see, yarn can be spun Z twist or S twist. The direction the yarn is spun in is one when spun to the right and the other when spun to the left, but I mix up which is which cuz I have dysgraphia and forget which direction the letter S goes. I think Z twist is spun to the right and S twist is to the left but I could be mixed up.
Basically, the way yarn behaves is subtly different when spun Z vs S, but most available commercial yarn is only one of them (I want to say it's mostly Z twist but I could have that backwards, I'm sure a more advanced spinner will jump in here for me).
So I'm sorry to say this but there is an entire world of yarn out there that you can only access by learning to spin. Storebought yarn barely scratches the surface. You can spin the perfect sock yarn yourself. Up your knitting or crochet game and join the spinners!

Yarnitecture? Yarnitecture!!
This is seriously one of the best spinning technique and design book out there. It's a fantastic resource and not only teaches you different ways to spin yarn and all the design choices you can make, it also gives you projects you can use that yarn for. So yeah, learn to spin, create absolutely unique yarns you won't find in stores, and turn them into garments you will wear forever!
If you want to be talked down you are asking the wrong people.
Have you seen how beautiful spindles are? And there's an unbroken line going back so far in history where someone in the world was making yarn on a spindle. And you can be part of that!
finally I got them all
can you trigger tag bisexuality please

I love men that are so hairy they can't even hide it like they have hairy ass forearms and it's creeping up their wrists and knuckles and poking out of the collar of their button up shirt... your slutty whore DNA is bursting at the seams. Whore.
I got a bit carried away here I apologize for my language
hey i was caramelizing your boyfriend and he uh. he stuck to the pan. yeah i didn’t deglaze it enough and he’s really burnt on there. i mean we can soak him for a while and see if we can scrape him up but i’m not optimistic. sorry.
“As this unsuspecting family enjoyed their freshly cooked barbecue while camping on secluded Christmas Island, off Western Australia's far north-west, the Robber Crabs (AKA Coconut Crabs) gathered around them searching for food. Despite their frightening appearance, the crabs are completely harmless, but (as their name indicates), they often steal food from campsites.” The Darker Side of Science, Facebook.
So, are bigass crabs the Christmas island equivalent of raccoons?

photos by lassi rautiainen, susan brookes and staffan widstrand of a rare friendship that developed between a female grey wolf and a male brown bear in northern finland.
notes lassi, “no one can know exactly why or how the young wolf and bear became friends, but i think that perhaps they were both alone when they were young and a bit unsure of how to survive alone. it seems to me that they feel safe being together.”
the photographers also note that the two share every meal together, bringing each other their kills (as seen in the third and fifth photos).
