So back in March of last year, I was an even more nervous individual than I am now, with a couple online and irl friends and not that much happening otherwise. One day I'm browsing YouTube and see a new video from Astral Spiff on his extras channel, talking about a demo for a game called Haste. The first thing the captivated me was the art. Stunning work in both the 2D and 3D department, plus interesting looking gameplay - not to mention the studio was a familiar face, so I installed the demo myself and gave it a go.

I Loved it.

I loved it so much that I immediately got to work drawing, and created a piece that I'm still proud of. I'd noticed that the demo had a link to the game's discord server, and thought about posting the work to that server. I'm not even joking when I say I was so nervous just to join the server that I sat there for a good 10 minutes debating whether to join or not. I eventually gave in with the thought "Well, if i doesn't go well, I can always leave"

I did not leave and instead proceeded to meet some of my favourite people I have ever met online, plus I had the unique opportunity to talk to professionals and see behind the scenes in a way that made me more certain than ever that I wanted to pursue studying game development. I think the last year has been one of the best and most creatively fulfilling of my life <3
