Tegan Fontaine

sid got quiet for a second, as he thought about what she said knowing she was right.. “– there you’ve got a point..” he muttered, letting out a quite chuckle, rubbing the back of his neck once more as he did.. “no uhm i– i control and operate some of the rides at the amusement park.. like the ones that always looks miserable..”

        --- “Maybe they’d be less miserable with some company, i’d love to see how all that boring shit works” Tegan’s attempt at flirting was basically the worst, she threw insults and hoped that guys would like her, which is probably why she was single, she silently beat herself up all the time for it. But unfortunately that was her and she’d never changed her tactics, maybe one day someone wouldn’t just assume she was a bitch and find her slightly entertaining.

“it’s all alcohol..” he muttered, rubbing his chin quickly, hues watching her for a few moments just taking all of it in as it was a lot for the actual antisocial asshole he was most of the time.. especially as she looked like she could probably buy him, his apartment, his entire family and then some and probably still have money to spare.. “still– i’d consider that better than telling people to keep their hands and feet to themselves or they’ll get cut off at 110 mph..”

           --- “That makes you sound like a serial killer considering I have no idea what your job is” Tegan smirked as she popped a few olives in her mouth that were in a bowl on the counter before sipping her drink again. She could already tell that this cute guy and her were very much going to get along, and the prospect of even just having a new friend was exciting for her, it’d been awhile, on all fronts.

Okay, before this was just simply flirting with the first pretty girl he saw but the second she mentioned any interest in boats and suddenly James was all ears on deck. “That so? I’ve only got my one boat now, but I been sailing for as long as I can remember.” He figured she must be of the rich families, not many people could say they just have a yacht and sailboat to party on.” And with that though James interest was one three things, a pretty girl, boats, and the idea of money. “That’s what brothers are for aren’t they?” James asked, not that he really knew he was a single child. “Besides, it gets lonely out in sea, specially if you don’t got anywhere to be.” That… he did know.

           --- “I could see how it could get lonely, but sometimes you just need a ton of wide open space to feel alive” she sighed and took a sip if her drink “wow, listen to me, at a party sounding all depressing, that’s not what anyone wants to hear when they come to a party” Tegan chuckled nervously, she hadn’t realized til that moment just how awkward she had become, she really needed to take more time off work or she was going to completely lose all of her people skills in one go.

sid nodded slightly, and actually kinda smiled, before he looked away for a short moment as she turned he attention to the bartender to order a drink for herself.. the boy awkwardly raised his hand, rubbing the back of his beck before she suddenly turned back to him, introducing herself in a manner he probably would’ve done himself.. “pleasure… i’m sid.. and i am antisocial, and don’t know how to talk to be whatsoever.. so i feel like you’re doing a lots better job than i am.”

          --- “Well, you’re talking to me, so i’d say you’re doing pretty well” her smile was genuine, most guys she talked to were giant asshole’s who figured that if they looked at her the right way she would fall at their feet, but she wasn’t like that, she had good taste and high standards, which could be why she was still single. “The only reason I have to talk to people is work, I wouldn’t consider it very social, so what do you do that requires minimal contact with other people?”

“Well, it’s a good color on you, that’s for sure.” James usually went about the more serious route when he flirted but it was just different with the atmosphere of the party and he really had to say the girl was good looking in that dress. “Yeah… a boat. Like in the ocean.” He said smirking at her. “Been sailing the Wendybird for a few years now.” 

         --- “I know a few things about boats, mostly how to party way too hard on them” Tegan chuckled “my parents own a yacht and a sailboat, which for a long time I honestly considered just taking it far far away, but my brother would probably still find a way to pester me” she sighed. Tegan had always felt like the black sheep of the family, her brother was just loved because he was the oldest and her sister was always going places, but Tegan had always fallen a tad short of her parents expectations, and as much as she tried to play it off, she hated it.

hearing her question in regards to why he was there wasn’t exactly what he’d expected to hear from her.. she looked like someone who’d showed up with the intention of meeting someone at least, but the familiar cynical sound of her question was the complete opposite.. a slight chuckle escaped him, “well um– the cheap alcohol i guess..” he mutter, raising his glass her way before taking another sip of it, feeling it burn all the way down his throat.. “doesn’t make my wallet hurt too much by the end of the night– that kinda stuff..”

         --- “I can appreciate that” Tegan waved down the bartender and ordered herself a vodka soda, she took a rather large gulp of it before giving her attention back to the boy “I’m Tegan, by the way, and i’m borderline antisocial and have no idea how to properly talk to people when they aren’t telling me how they like their coffee, or i’m drunk” she shrugged, laughing at herself, hoping maybe her terrible jokes could help break the ice.

kenny forced a smile onto his face when he realized who was next to him. “ valentine’s day is just not the best day. playing music on this holiday gives me bad memories. ” he explained bringing his drink up to take a sip. “ i’m sure you have something more fun planned than to listen to my woes. ” he thought for a moment. “ or at least a girl like you should have something more fun to do on valentine’s day. ”

         --- “I’m really sorry to hear that, it probably doesn’t help but i’m not a fan of holidays” she shrugged “big holiday’s mean I need to see my family, which ends in disaster every time, and small holidays im alone” Tegan tried to smile at the boy, she didn’t feel the need to bring him down further “’I’m honestly just happy for the day off”.

“A few people might agree to that… I’ve been called more along the lines of grumpy or rude but go with what you want, sweetheart.” He rose a brow, he didn’t know if he was just thinking along stereotypes and seeing a pretty blonde girl as a rule breaker wasn’t normal for hm but he’d take her word for it. “Well, good. I see you didn’t break the dress code now did yah? Unless you aren’t single which I will tell you would disappoint most of the men in this bar.” He nodded as he remembered her name. “Captain James Hooke at your service.” 

          --- “Nope, i’m as single as they come and I happen to enjoy the color red so it wasn’t hard for me to decide I may as well just follow that rule” Tegan took a rather large sip of her drink, she needed the buzz for this, it had been far too long since she’d attempted to flirt with someone and she was feeling like an idiot. “Captain? like of a boat?” she frowned at herself, why would she ask that, what a dumb question.

 James shrugged. “Maybe. Why do I have to show if I’m single or not? I’m just here to drink and watch whatever drama can unfold.” He said with a shrug. James took down the rest of his drink and order another one. “I don’t usually go by the rules for anything.” 

         --- “You sound like a pretentious jackass” she couldn’t help but to tease, she had a smile on her face as she sipped her drink so it was obvious she was just joking. “But I hate Valentines Day so i’m not all that offended by your lack of rule following, rules are boring, I don’t follow them either, my sister would back that up” Tegan said the last part under her breath. “I’m Tegan, by the way, and what can I call you? besides tall, dark and brooding?”.

anywhere drinks were involved, sid would try and make an effort to show, and with a dress code, he as per usual put minimal effort into it and just went with a dark red plaid shirt and called it a day.. as he arrived at the bar, he kinda just headed directly towards the bar, getting whatever strong shit he could get a hold of, letting his gaze drift as he saw someone sitting in the corner of his eye.. turning his gaze it landed on a blonde haired girl dressed in a short red dress that had him shifting where he stood..  and as he finally got his drink he drank some of i before walking up to her.. “anyone bought you a drink yet–?” he asked, though instantly regretting it as he heard how stupid it really sounded..

           --- Tegan wasn’t exactly expecting attention from anyone, but of course it was a nice feeling when a cute guy gave you any sort of attention “oh, no, but I haven’t been here long, so there’s still lots of time” Tegan had a grin on her face, he looked like he barely wanted to be there based on the fact that his outfit looked thrown together, but she didn’t mind, considering she wasn’t sure why she was there either. “So what brings you to a party based on the stupidest hallmark holiday?” her tone came across way more cynical than she’d mean’t to.

kenny sighed as he pushed open the doors to the bacchus bar. he hated playing anything on valentine’s day after high school, but of course his stupid ass agreed to play the event. he knew he was going to need something to get himself through his set, so he made his way to the bar. he set his guitar down next to him as he ordered himself a beer. “ i really don’t want to do this. ” he said with an audible groan.

         --- “Why not? your music is amazing” Tegan smiled at the boy she recognized from out side of the  coffee shop, glad to see a familiar face that wasn’t a family member. She didn’t like to see people upset, and Kenny was obviously distressed a bit “what’s got you so down? you should be cheerful and happy, everyone is going to think you’re kickass”.

 James wanted to be sure that people knew he had no idea in participating in this party and so he wore blue instead but seeing the whole thing would be offering drinks he surely was going to go for that. So he sat at the bar holding down his drink before looking at the girl next to him in a short dress. “Damn I got to say even I can’t avoid talking to a girl in a dress like that.” 

            --- Tegan turned her attention to the man in blue beside her, she looked him up and down, a smirk grew on her face as she realized he clearly said fuck it to the dress code. “So what does blue mean? dating yourself?” she teased, avoiding his compliment although it definitely put a genuine smile on her face.

“I can make my own money. I know people, but why waste the time when it’s just handed to me. I get to spend my time doing things I actually like doing and not have to work hard while doing it.” He said with terrible logic behind it. “Well, I wouldn’t excpect you to make some and not offer it to me as well. That’s just rude.” He said watching as things, of course were being done for him. “Since you arleady started why don’t I just get Pissy Payton over here. I’m sure she’d have a fit knowing we were spending time without her again.” 

        --- “I’m not hosting a party, I didn’t ask you to come over, just because we live in the same building does not make you and I friends, you’ve made that abundantly clear” Tegan turned back to the boiling water, adding in the seasoning packets and noodle, letting it all simmer together. “Face it, your weirdo boyfriend wasn’t around to entertain you so you just had to come here, you couldn’t just, oh, I don’t know, go to bed!”.

“You make it like work is all so hard.” He said yet never actually having a real job in his life to compare it to. The hardest thing he had ever done that would classify was the short time he tried to work alongside his father. It didn’t last as he got frustrated and tried having anyone fired if they didn’t do as he said. “This is why you should just take advantage of the family money, we don’t actually have to work Tegan. I live great and have all the entertainment I need while doing it.” He had obviously no care in the world he was using his parents as he really could care less about them. “Maybe you wouldn’t be so damn boring if you tried.”

          --- “I don’t need their money, as much as you don’t believe me, it feels good to earn your living, being a hardworking citizen is nice” Tegan walked over to the cupboard and started rummaging, finding two packages of ramen “i’m making ramen, you can have some” she said quietly as she filled a pot of water and put it on the stove to boil. As much as her brother didn’t deserve her kindness, she still tried to be civil with him, well, at least until he really pissed her off, then she always fought back.

kenny sat on the curb outside of the coffee shop. he was absentmindedly strumming on his guitar. he wasn’t playing anything specific but was just passing time until he was supposed to meet with the band. he had absent mindedly left his guitar case open next to him. he wasn’t really paying attention until he heard the sound of coins. he looked over to see that someone had tossed some change into his case. “ uh. i’m not really playing for money. i can’t accept that. ”

           --- Tegan had been finishing up her shift at the coffee shop, she stolen glances at the boy who had set up his guitar outside and was strumming away. Tegan was basically always working, and she almost never had time for new friends, so out she went, two coffees in hand to introduce herself to him “how about a free coffee” she said after watching him deny money “i’m Tegan, I work inside” she smiled warmly shifting on her toes.
