Haha some random village dog sleeping near the beach on an island near Alotau
Just noticed this advert for bus drivers. It says successful applicants need to demonstrate "well developed interpersonal skills" and a "strong customer focus". Umm since when did bus drivers have these in the first place?

Noticed this sign near the bus stop. Bring Pink to Townsville you hear!
First bottle of Fiji water I've ever bought. Don't know if it was worth it though.

Ok so well lately I discovered that I am now eligible to apply for Australian Citizenship. Having lived, studied and paid taxes here in Australia it would make total sense to take that next fateful step. However for personal reasons I will not do so.
That got me thinking though, what really does it mean to be a citizen of a country anyway?
- Is it a purely legal thing evidenced only by a Birth/Citizenship Certificate?
- Is it a state of mind where a person identifies with a particular society?
- Is it a mix of both? Does it depend?
The preamble of the Australian Citizenship Act 2007 (Cth) states:
âThe Parliament recognises that Australian citizenship represents full and formal membership of the community of the Commonwealth of Australia, and Australian citizenship is a common bond, involving reciprocal rights and obligations, uniting all Australians, while respecting their diversity.â
To add to this definition, the Australian Government introduced an Australian Citizenship Test in 2007 as part of the Citizenship application process. To be honest I donât see any benefit in this test. Just seems like the Government trying to legislate a set of âvaluesâ that simply canât be learnt in a 20 question multiple choice test. How many Australians actually know who the first Australian Prime Minister was? Or the process in which a bill introduced into Federal Parliament becomes law?
I like living here but personally the only reason I would apply for Australian Citizenship is for the passport. I barely play or watch any sport (I do watch the State of Origin), donât drink, am not an outdoors person , donât get the Aussie sense of humour and donât think âmateshipâ is as important part of my life. Iâm more than happy to follow the laws of this country, pay my taxes and fulfil any other formal obligations but I do not feel compelled to live my life the âAustralian wayâ. Nor do I feel I have âa common bondâ or âunityâ with all other Australians (contrary to what the Government or others might want me to think).
To sum things up I wouldnât mind becoming an Australian Citizen and in the event I do, it would only signify a change in my legal status - nothing more. Citizenship shouldnât be about feeling pressured into living/thinking in a certain way. What are your thoughts?
Temperatures exceeding 1000 degrees Fahrenheit and a collapsing 47-story building were not enough to damage this 9/11 hijackerâs passport.
You've got to be kidding, you actually have to pay for custom themes on Tumblr?! Umm hate to bring it to you but who in their right mind would pay $20 for a theme?! You could buy a decent music album for that amount on iTunes, but noooo! Tumblr has to get all corporate on its users...well tough, I'll just stick to my boring blue colour theme thank you very much!! Sheesh!
This is my very first .gif animation, thanks to a tutorial I was able to get this done pretty much effortlessly.
These few frames are from a scene from a comedy series called âCommunityâ if youâve ever heard of it in an episode in season 3 called âStudies in Modern Movementâ - one of my favourite episodes btw. The characters in front are Shirley Bennett and Britta Perry respectively. The guy in the back is a random hobo lol.
