Amelia passed over the books on the shelf again, she was looking for a book she needed for her study. It wasn’t easy to study and play professional quidditch but she loved the challenge. She sighed and moved to another shelf in the store and began looking at that one. “How hard is it to find one book” Amelia sighed in defeat.
Ted didn’t read many books besides ones on his favourite musicians and ones filled with recipes and merely visited book stores for books like those. As he was on his way out -- having just bought a book on ways to use easy Transfiguration spells on foods -- he heard a familiar voice, and he was quick to chime in, “You know, I’m one hell of a book-finder, if you need any help.”
she hated walking around with a new pair of heels. it takes a while for ayanna’s feet to grow accustomed of them, and so the first few weeks were always hell. walking along the shops down the lane to flourish and blotts, she was counting the steps before she can strap them off in her humble little office before she accidentally tripped—- only to be assisted by a stranger. ’ you must be here to rescue me. you’re too pretty to be the Angel of Death. ’
ted’s instincts were to be honest and kind --- he’d learned those values growing up and had kept them after he’d traded home for hogwarts at eleven. and so, when a blonde walking near him tripped, he was quick to catch her. her words -- which he supposed were her way of saying thanks ( not that he required a thanks; he hardly did these things to be thanked ) -- left him a bit confused, but he smiled at them nonetheless. “aren’t angels s’posed to be pretty, too? for as far as i know, they are; it’s demons that are ugly.”
“I don’t want to be a walking cliche,” started Ted, knowing far well he was one and sounding uncharacteristically grumpy. “But I’m going to complain about the weather anyway.” A glance outside, where it was pouring. “Because I’m bloody tired of the endless rain in this bloody country. It seemed like it was going to be a lovely day, but nope — not here in Great Britain. Never here.”

“ i’m sure i can drag james along, ” the redhead mused, pressing glossy pink lips together. “ though sirius might insist on coming too, and i bet he would be more of a hindrance than a help. but i’ll give my mum a call, see if she has any car boots to recommend. ” victoria evans was well versed in the event, having brought her daughters to many in their childhood. “ we’ll have to et up early, i hope you’re prepared for that. ”
“sounds good to me, yeah, i’m sure he could be of great use.” at the mention of sirius black, however, ted’s mind jumped to andromeda -- as it did so very often and so very quickly. “ah, the more the merrier, aye? i’ll call me ma, too, she probably knows of a few here and there too.” ted enjoyed talking to fellow muggleborns, when speaking of phonecalls and car boots didn’t result in raised eyebrows or confusion. “uh, yeah, i’ll have to mentally prep myself for that. am used to getting up late and staying up late, with my work and all. but i’ll manage!”

“You could just wear green the rest of your life?” She suggested, her lips twitching at the joke. “Beer I can handle, but if I’m drinking for pleasure it wouldn’t be my first choice. But you’re right, it’s good for a cheap drink, something I quickly learned.” Mona laughed before folding her arms. “Moi? Why I am saddened you even need to ask. I am a fantastic actress, you know. I could sell water to a merman.”
“Damn, I should talk to you more often, you give stellar life advice,” said Ted, only half-joking as his lips curled in a smile. “Fair, fair; to each their own an’ all. But it’s damned cheap, that’s for sure, and it doesn’t give you the headache wine gives you. Nothin’ worse than that, if you ask me.” He laughed at that, shaking his head. “I need to know, can’t just go off your word. So, c’mon, try to sell me somethin’ useless. Shouldn’t be hard, considering my ... track record with buying useless stuff.”
ofpuregreengrass:
The woman cringed, a laugh leaving her despite herself. “Get horrible grass stains, mind.” She teased in a dry tone. “I fear for you if you are drinking anything worth less than at least 5 sickles. I believe that is just watered down grape juice.” Despite now finding herself in a very different tax bracket, Desdemona’s tastes hadn’t caught up to the news yet clearly. “What terrible news this must be. I could flog it for you, for a cut of the profits.”
“Ah, well, I’ve been told they’ve got spells for that. Am kinda shit at cleaning spells, but still, that’s a fixable problem,” he said, chuckling lightly. “I honestly don’t drink that much wine; I prefer beer, really. Loads of it. And cheap beer is good, so y’know, no trouble there.” Ted considered that option for a moment, eyebrows pulled in a frown. “Hmm, that could work. Are you a good sales-woman, though? I need to know it’ll be a success.”

“ understandable. ” bad impulse control ? she could tell. her features rested in a bed of emotionlessness, observant eyes hidden behind glass fixed on the man. “ you’re never satisfied, ” rita commented elegantly, her interest picking up ever so lightly. “ the same happens to me, just not in that sense. ” a manicured hand was waved gently in nonchalance, before the woman’s eyebrows lifted so as to show her growing interest. “ i’m guessing you must get all sorts of clients over there. what is that like ? you know, seeing all of what is happening lately. ”
“sometimes material things can just be ... nice, ya know? no shame in that,” said ted, shrugging slightly. he wasn’t necessarily too materialistic, but he did have a tendency to buy things just for the heck of it. “agh, satisfaction is just an impossible ideal. who knows if i’ll ever get it.” thoughts went to andromeda for a moment -- as they often did -- but he shook her brown eyes out of his mind quickly. “oh, i mostly work in the kitchen, so when i’m working i don’t see a lot of folks. but yeah, i s’pose it’s kinda that there’s all kinds of people there. there’s folks from all sides of the war and you never really know who fits where ‘n stuff. s’pose it grants a bit of perspective? they all eat, all get drunk in a bar ... dunno if i like that perspective, though. better to imagine the villain as some unhuman ... thing.” a pause. “am i rambling again?”
ofpuregreengrass:
“While you’re at it, perhaps look into banks too.” Desdemona teased, smirking playfully. It was hardly as if she had room to talk, she was the most impulsive spender on the planet. “I’ll take what I can get, surely it’s enough to buy a decent bottle of wine?” The half veela pretended to think on it for a moment, a brow raising slowly. “I think I’ll pass for now. Your salesmen skills could use a little work if I were being honest.”
“Those I do know! You can sit on ‘em, right? Even take naps if they’re comfortable enough, I believe,” said Ted, laughing slightly at his own ( rather shit ) joke. “Depends on what you consider a good bottle of wine. If it’s more than a few sickles, I’ll have to disappoint ya. Thank Merlin I’m getting paid in a week.” Ted clutched his heart, shaking his head in disbelief. “And here I thought I was on my way to become a door-to-door salesman. I guess I’ll just have to use it to clean now. Ugh.”

“ I have been known to be rather brilliant. ” the redhead teased, a friendly smile dancing on her lips. “ if you need a hand, or just someone to hold you back, i’m happy to help. plus i have some things lying around i could do with selling on. ”
“hmm, i don’t doubt that,” said ted, grinning at the other. “yeah, let’s do it! it’d be a good thing, to not do it alone and stuff. i have no clue what kinda money i should ask for most things, so it’d be good to bounce of ideas for prices off of each other. we should get more people included, too, i’m sure there’s plenty who are in need of some extra cash.”

John Boyega photographed by Zoey Grossman for Variety
Boyega has been a fan of the “Star Wars” series since he was growing up, and Johnson thinks that’s the key to his performance. “There’s this inner kid to John on the set that’s just so excited about playing a ‘Star Wars’ character and thinks it’s really, really cool,” he says. “That shines through on-screen like a laser.”

explain ? rita’s jaw almost dropped. she was, however, unable to hold back an eye-roll. if she had to undergo the tortuous ramble again she would end up crazier than the people she wrote about. “ no, no ” she chuckled nervously, placing a fake reassuring hand on his shoulder for a couple moments. if she were in a cartoon, a small lightbulb would light up above her head right then. “ do you know about the sales at the diagon alley, though ? i’m pretty sure they’ve gone downhill ever since, well, you know… ” rita gestured at thin air. “ i’m afraid i didn’t catch this but, what is it that you do ? job-wise, i mean. ”
he’d expected a dismissal and could only be amused by it; if she’d said yes, he would’ve been at a loss as to what he should say. while he had some feelings on the topic of sales, he doubted that he could talk about for much longer. “oh, i try not to shop too much. bad impulse control, y’know,” said ted, shrugging slightly. “but it seems that there’s more, which is never a good sign, right? kinda makes sense, i s’pose. don’t think many people feel like going shopping these days.” a bit confused at her next question, he eyed the other for a moment before answering. “i cook. at the three broomsticks, that is.”
ofpuregreengrass:
Desdemona let out a laugh, wrinkling her nose at the other. “Don’t you know anything of self discipline, Tonks?” The French woman, and former Slytherin quirked an eyebrow. “Perhaps you ought to entrust your money to someone with more self control, I’d happily volunteer.” She grinned playfully, outstretching her hand. In truth, she had been partial to more sales herself. After being disowned, a lot of the money she had expected to get was taken from her. So now she lived on a very basic salary, and very much missed the luxuries she’d become accustomed to. More than once she had spent the last of it on a bottle of wine and Witch Weekly, rather than a meal.
“Yeah, yeah, heard ‘bout it once or twice. Should look into it, perhaps,” muttered Ted, frowning slightly. He was mad at himself plenty already and wasn’t looking for a lecture ( although he’d kind of asked for it with that rant ). Ted, too, lived on a rather basic salary, and lived pretty much from paycheck to paycheck. “I dunno if you’d want it, there’s not that much left,” he replied, giving the other a bit of a grin. “But if you want a vaccuum cleaner, I’ve got one for you.”

the rant seemed awfully familiar, like something her mother way say after the boxing day sales. “ well, i mean, you could always sell things on. y’know, take them to a charity shop or car boot sale. someone will buy them. ”
“That’s actually a rather brilliant idea,” Ted said, thinking the suggestion over for a while. “Could lend my da’s car, sell some other things lyin’ around back at home-home ... God knows I could use the extra cash.”
ofskeeterisms:
if there was anything she loathed was people rambling —– ; if they didn’t have anything important to say, then they shouldn’t say anything at all. perhaps someone, some muggle, would love reading an article about sales, but she’d rather die before being the one to write it. “ d’you want to hear a little secret ? ” she flashed a somewhat mischievous, yet altogether brittle grin as she leaned over to reduce the space between them to mere inches. “ here it goes: i have no bloody clue what you’re speaking about. ”
It happened from time to time, Ted getting too wrapped up in his own thoughts and thus rambling for minutes on end about the stupidest things. It was a habit he had trouble shaking, and when the other called him out on it in the subtlest ways, he cursed himself ever so slightly in his head. “Well, would you like me to explain?,” he wondered in return, smirk on his lips, hiding the shame he’d felt moments before. “I could give you all the details on my views on sales and how dangerous they are, if you’d like.”
