Brandon drove his car down the streets of Wayward Rose lost in his thoughts. His eyes were on the road but his head was somewhere else. His brows were furrowed as he was deep in thought, but despite what it looked like, it wasnât exactly anything serious.
âI should have written down what we needed,â he muttered to himself in annoyance, giving himself a mental kick to the shin as he parked outside the grocery store. He got out of his car and was making a beeline for the entrance when in the corner of his eye, he saw some sort of commotion. When he heard screams, he went over and saw a young man crumpled on the ground as a bunch of other people were in a circle beating him up.
âGet off!â the angel shouted as he pulled off one of the attackers. They were about to turn on Brandon when they got the sense that he was an Elite. âTry me,â Brandon said. The attackers chose wisely and made a run for it.
Brandon knelt down and helped the young man up. âAre you alright? Youâre chattel, arenât you? Are you lost or, or is the person who rented you out just messing with you?â
@teddywyattâ
Teddy had been a little nervous when the woman who had rented him had pushed him out her door when she was done. Sure, he thought he could find his way back to LâEnfer on his own, but it was a long walk through town and heâd yet to wander around on his own. His nerves were proven right when a group of men set upon him.
Not the first time heâd been jumped, Teddy curled into a ball, trying to protect his head and internal organs when it became clear he wasnât going to be able to fight them. The beating went on for over a minute before a loud, authoritative voice scared them off.
Blinking up at the big man whoâd save him, Teddy swallowed.  âThank you, Sir. I was just walking back to LâEnfer after she finished with me. I promise, I didnâ do anything to make them hit me.â
