Phase 3 & 4

Scent is one of the main senses in humans, but one thing that distinguishes scent from the other scents is that you cannot turn it off, whether consciously or unconsciously you’ll still smell what’s surrounding you, as if it’s an unavoidable notification.

But what if scent is used in commercial aspects?

Can scents be used in commercial and marketing?

If yes, so how will those scents be used?

Phase 1

We as a human, all have five senses as a living mechanism. And one of the key sense is the sense of smell. One can convey or interpret many things through scents.

There are many scents around the world some scents are even extinct, moreover there are both natural and artificial scents.

But have you ever smell something and that scent triggers you’re nostalgia?

Everyday activity used to have clear distinction whether it’s leisure or work, but nowadays the boundary between them has become more blurry and people have become accustomed to this lifestyle. Wariness of multitasking has become lessen; people’s acceptance has increased in terms of multitasking.

‘ When life is too focus ….. Just make it blurry ’

Written in the history, terracotta was known to be used to create many interventions from building vernacular structures to creating cooling interventions such as wine cooler or water system pipes. Ko Kred was known for it’s famous craftsmanship especially in the area of ‘potteries’, my project aim to use terracotta to create interventions that would investigate the quality of terracotta with moisture, and scattering it among the landscape of Ko Kred.

Ko Kret is a small island in the Chao Phraya River, North of Bangkok, Thailand. It is known as a settlement of the Mon people, whose famed for their craftsmanship. Traditional earthenware has been produced by the Mon people on the island for centuries and it is still being produced along the river until today.

PHASE 2 - DOMESTIC DEVICES

In phase 2, I’ve researched informations on water; it’s uses and it’s sources. I’ve started by investigating water use from people around me by asking them to take a photo when they encounter water or uses water in their daily life for a duration of 2 days. 

PHASE 1 - CONTEXTUAL STUDIES

Ganvie Stilt Village, Republic of Benin

Water is considered as one of the most important factors in our life, sitting in a section of Lake Nokwe, stands a crowded village made out of stilts. Life here are surrounded by water from all sides with views of endless seascape, it has became a tourist attraction due to the village’s unique lifestyle and architecture. From transportation to income, all of them used water as an important source, villagers transport through the water using a pirogue, they also gain income by fish farming. From day until night, even though the village is isolated from the city but it is still lively in the night despite having not much thing to do, in the night we can usually hear the sounds of praying from the church
