Something I really love about The Owl House is it’s very subtle use of gender non-conforming language. One example being Luz saying “I’ve got a new crush and her name is education.” She could have just as easily said “his” or “their” in place of “her” but the use of “her” works to solidify her as being comfortable in her own sexuality. Another example would be Boscha and Amity referring to the ghost in the photo class as “they,” or King picking up Luz’s tiara and declaring himself “best of both things!” The show is very subtly working against the heteronormative writing style that’s baked into almost every piece of media made for kids
