AVCon: Adelaide's Anime and Gaming Festival Official Tumblr

AVCon this year will be hold on the third weekend of July from Friday the 17th to the Sunday the 19th!

AVCon has been running strong for 13 solid years so expect it to be bigger and better than you've ever seen it!

To celebrate the official launch of AVCon we're hosting a launch party mid February. There we will announce the theme and reveal this years mascots (definitely keep your eyes and ears out for the details of that soon). So... ready your gaming thumbs, book your accommodation, put those last tweaks on your cosplay and let the countdown begin! This weekend our fantastic team of Maids and Butlers are waiting at Ichigo Ke-ki Cafe to provide the best in cafe hospitality! For a small $2 entry fee, escape the hustle-bustle of the busy AVCon atmosphere for a chill-out session. Get a photo with our maids and butlers, have a chat, and grab a bite to eat in relaxing surroundings. Hot food, cold food and yummy drinks will be available.

"Free Hug" and equivalent signs are officially off limits this year at AVCon.

We've had a large number of complaints and incidents with conduct of people bringing "Free Hugs" signs and being inappropriate to attendees. The AVCon elect has officially decided to ban them from the convention this year.

This is a topic that is big in the convention scene right now, as it opens up to assault cases and personal space issues. Outside of signs, please respect your fellow attendees space and always seek consent before any physical contact.

The Indie Games Room Promotional Trailer is Here The Indie Games Room has released their brand new promotional trailer for this year's showcase. The trailer was created by Adelaide based studio, Monkeystack and highlights some of the games that will be playable at AVCon. 

The full listing of games for this year's Indie Games Room has also been revealed. This year they are bringing over 40 games from 35 different game studios to AVCon. The scope of games this is strong and diverse with games such as the sci-fi psychological horror Caffeine, the 2 on 2 Commodore 64 basketball game Jam It, the multiplayer student game Derailed and a game about subatomic particle physics, Particulars.
