Okay but like imagine Light Yagami WASN'T Kira and he's like super excited to start his first year in Law and Justice at the top university of Japan and then some guy who looks like he hasn't showered in days pops in to do the opening speech with him and tells Light that he is THE FAMOUS L and that he thinks that LIGHT IS KIRA. And Light is just here like... wait my dad is on the task force does he think I'm a mass murderer??? wait how do I convince this L dude that I'm not Kira??? I'm just some Uni first year!!!
Because like, L DID say there was a 2% chance that Light was Kira so like it would actually be a kind of funny show if we start off the first episode with your main protag Light Yagami trying to make himself a career in Law and Justice while trying to convince a world famous detective that he's not a mass murderer and that L has the wrong guy. It would be a very different show but it WOULD be funny.
