I get a little frustrated with how this fandom critics the female character arcs cuz I feel like most of the arcs have problems where certain things are rushed and some ideas are left as not fully fleshed out plot threads. When it comes to male characters with these issues, the fandom will string together those plot threads into an essays, but when it comes to the female characters, they'll throw the whole baby out with the bath water and go "eh well that was trash and Li Haolin just hates women." Like, there's things to criticize with the female characters arcs for sure, but I wish the fandom would talk about those criticisms with as much grace as they do with the men's arcs. There's messy bits with the women but I think there's also some really special and brilliant aspects of their arcs and I'm sad to see them get left behind in discussions.
