“As long as you don’t do it by stepping on me,” Siobhan laughed, joining in with reckless abandon.

“I’ll do my best,” Teddy called over the music. He danced like an idiot.

“They have the taste of, ‘I don’t want my little sister wearing anything revealing’,” Jackie replied. “It’s a very sad taste.”

“Revealing isn’t always bad.” Teddy frowned. “Why do straight guys think like that?”

“Should you be out without them?” Fernando asked, confused. “I’m not lost, I don’t need parental guidance.”

“I’m old enough to not need to hold my mom’s hand.” Teddy frowned slightly. “You sound lost, asking me all these questions.”

“Well in his exact words, ‘what the fuck happened to the rest of it’.” Jackie let out a small laugh. “There’s a reason I never ask my brother’s opinions for outfits.”

Teddy snorted. “Well, I’m glad you don’t. It sounds like they have horrible taste.”

Jackie shrugged. “Don’t know, I know I didn’t,” she replied. “Then again I feel like all suits look the same. Me however, I think my brother just about had a heart attack when he saw my dress. I think he wanted me to put a turtleneck on. Honestly, it was kind of hilarious.”

“I can see why he’d freak out. But at least you look great.” Teddy nodded. “I feel like a turtleneck would be suffocating.”

“Me?” Catalina grinned, flashing the small flask that was hidden in the band of her dress. “Not the punch, but I can spike your glass if you want.”

“Sure, why not.” Teddy held out his glass. “Thanks much.”

“You love this song?” Siobhan couldn’t help the laugh that escaped her. “Sure, why not. I have two aims for tonight, and not being able to feel my feet is one of them.”

“It’s a fun song to dance to.” Teddy defended. He danced to the dance floor, joining in as soon as he was in the crowd. “Good aim, I hope I can help you reach it.”

“Hmph.” Carter tutted primly, meandering around the room with her hands clasped behind her back. “Are you good at puzzles?” Leaning in closer, she inspected the base of the lamp, but nothing seemed amiss.

“I’ve never really tried one,” Teddy said as he looked under the covers for something. When he went to check the pillowcase, a note fell out. “Hey, look.” He picked it up, “it says 4:30.”

“If you help me walk them, we’ll call it even.” Carter suggested, shrugging lightly. They could be a lot to handle for just her, and it would be nice to have someone there to take one, among other things. “Do you need me to pick up anything? For the house? I’m not quite prepared for guests. I don’t get too many of them. ”

“Uh, no I have what I need.” Teddy shrugged. “And I’m sure my parents will make me come home during the holidays to make everything seem normal, so I can get my stuff whenever.”

“Suit yourself.” Carter shrugged, wondering what he was going to do when he got there and realized that her father’s house elf had become hers upon his demise. But she didn’t care what he did, really, as long as it made him comfortable enough to seek her out. “Busy? Sure. Work? Eh.” She laughed, glancing down at him. “Hope you like animals, though.”

“I just don’t want to be a bum.” Teddy shrugged. “I love dogs, and your dogs are cute.”
