“Which ones?” Tanner asked, taking the instructions back, “Oh uh, A screws. Those are A screws.”

“Well yeah, it wouldn’t be considered suspicious here because everyone has abilities or knows about them,” Tanner smiled, “Me and Tess? Yeah, we’re very close. Kind of the only biological family I have left and she’s very important to me.”

Tanner looked at the cup and then shrugged, chugging it. He tossed it and smiled, “Alright let’s keep going.”

“I mean do I have low moments? Yes. But do I still try and think about things positively. That things are gonna get better,” Tanner smiled, “You should try it, even just for a day. It’s actually a pretty good mentality to have when bad things are going on.”

Tanner was grinning the whole way through the song. He couldn’t help himself. Her humming was the only sound he’d ever heard from her and it was music to his ears in more ways than one, “ Oh baby, we found love right where we are...” He sang, finishing the song with a slight longer note in his singing and the chord and his smile softened as he spoke to her, “You know, I don’t know why we don’t jam more often. Don’t tell him I said this, but your jamming skills rival your brother’s,” He said, laughing.

“Work,” Tanner said, “I have a medical degree but I also have biological manipulation so someone with abilities told me it would be best to find a job in a place like HQ so I didn’t get in trouble for using my abilities to save lives. In a regular hospital, it’s a lawsuit waiting to happen,” He paused, “Plus my twin sister’s here too and she’s kind of the only biological family I have left so here I am.”

“I have a lot of reasons to be happy with the way that my life is,” Compared to what it had been like before. But he didn’t say that to the other.

“Yes, look,” Tanner said, and spread out everything in front of them, “You definitely did this bit right?” He asked, pointing at a page with what he thought was probably an important bit, “Or maybe it is the foundation.”

“Okay, seems easy enough,” Tanner said and pointed to the cup her ball had just landed in, “So I need to drink this one then?”

Tanner smiled widely and started to strum, “When your legs don't work like they used to before. And I can't sweep you off of your feet. Will your mouth still remember the taste of my love? Will your eyes still smile from your cheeks?” He kept going, kind of getting carried away with the music as he always did but also looking at Aurelie while he sang. Maybe there were other people listening to the music when he started playing too but he didn’t know.

Tanner laughed, “Hey for all I know you could secretly hate that he basically always has a guitar,” He joked, knowing it couldn’t possibly be true, “Of course I can play some Ed Sheeran. Anyone who owns a guitar and can’t play at least a little doesn’t actually know how to play guitar,” He said, continuing to joke as he started to strum, “What about Thinking Out Loud?” He suggested.

“Why not double chocolate?” Tanner signed. He had learned so he could understand her and though he didn’t need to sometimes he liked to use it so he didn’t get rusty.
