𝙸𝙽𝚃𝙴𝚁𝙰𝙲𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽 𝚆𝙸𝚃𝙷 : DAMIEN.

𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐙𝐀𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐍 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐀𝐍𝐘 𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐑   ,   the   younger   mutant   may   have   lashed   out   with   far   more   intensity   than   he   had   in   that   moment   ;   blue   hues   are   sharp   ,   cold   &   pointed                         but   as   damien’s   tone   softens   &   a   hand   extends   towards   him   ,   zaiden   can   feel   the   anger   coiling   deep   within   the   pit   of   his   stomach   slowly   unravel   until   the   twisted   KNOT   settled   within   him   pulls   itself   apart   altogether.   broad   shoulders   sag   &   as   a   quiet   sigh   spills   past   parted   lips   ,   the   dark-haired   young   man   looks   far   SMALLER   than   he   is.   like   a   boy   who   had   been   scolded   for   his   unruly   behavior   ,   his   lips   twist   into   the   makings   of   a   petulant-looking   scowl   &   dark   brows   knit   together   until   a   crease   forms   subtly   between   them.   an   indignant   SNIFF   is   all   he   manages   in   response   initially                        but   as   silence   lapses   between   them   ,   the   younger   mutant   tilts   his   head   back   to   survey   damien   with   a   critical   look.   his   expression   takes   on   a   pensive   edge   ,   the   set   of   his   jaw   earnest   &   the   flash   lurking   beneath   sapphire   depths   critical.   

when   he   finally   speaks   ,   his   tone   is   far   removed   from   the   initial   flare   of   RAGE   that   had   blistered   upon   impact   ;   rather   ,   his   low   timbre   is   laced   with   exhausted-sounding   defeat.   ❛   it   doesn’t   𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳.   ❜   his   cadence   is   almost   𝑫𝑶𝑳𝑬𝑭𝑼𝑳   ,   mumbled   quietly   under   his   breath   as   he   finally   chooses   to   willfully   let   GO   of   the   pulses   of   muted   anger   still   lingering   within   his   chest.   instead   ,   a   hand   lifts   to   rub   at   his   eyes   with   his   knuckles   ,   as   if   he   has   grown   weary   &   now   has   a   dire   need   for   a   well-deserved   nap.   as   another   sigh   escapes   him   ,   free   hand   reaches   to   place   his   hand   within   damien’s   larger   palm   ;   tattooed   digits   lace   loosely   together   with   damien’s   own   before   giving   a   small   ,   childish   squeeze   to   show   that   he’s   no   longer   upset.   his   anger   always   did   have   a   nasty   habit   of   flaring   without   warning   only   to   temper   itself   back   into   neutrality   within   minutes   once   zaiden   had   decided   an   argument   is   no   longer   worth   pursuing.   ❛   i   don’t   like   when   people   look   at   you   like   that.   ❜   petulant   ,   pitiful   ,   and   overly   possessive                        the   years   had   not   been   kind   to   him   &   in   that   time   ,   zaiden   had   yet   to   learn   how   to   properly   express   his   attachment.   something   he   hoped   damien   would   continue   to   understand   with   what   little   patience   he   had   left.

                    He could see the change in Zaiden immediately, and Damien honestly felt for the young man who seemed to shy away in defeat after being so furious just moments ago. In a way though Damien had been expecting this, Zaiden always lashed out. Zaiden was a puzzle, and Damien knew that he wasn’t any closer to figuring him out. The young mutant’s temper often flared up without warning and it was something that Damien was still learning how to navigate; and sometimes it felt like he wasn’t doing it right.

                   “Of course it matters,” he could tell that Zade was on his way down, whatever flare of anger that had just rocketed through the younger mutant was tapering off. Damien couldn’t believe how small he looked in these moments, it was a look into just how fragile the young mutant was. His boyfriend may put on a good mask, showing the world that he was cold and hard while hiding everything else away, but Damien knew better and all he wanted to do was protect him. “I promise you that I’m not looking at them.” He knew that he didn’t need to repeat it, but there was something in the way Zade was looking at him. Squeezing his hand again Damien carefully pulls Zade over to their bed.

pathetic  was  a  concept  kinsey  was  more  than  familiar  with…  but  she  honestly  couldn’t  put  a  finger  on  the  last  time  she’d  stayed  on  some  guy’s  couch  &  cried  into  the  early  house  of  the  night.  at  least  this  time  the  tears  were  due  to  physical  pain  — her  skeleton  was  literally  getting  ready  to  break  itself  into  tiny  pieces  &  she  still  honestly  hadn’t  wrapped  her  mind  around  the  idea  of  being  a  fucking…  what  word  had  he  used  ?  lycan.  half  the  time  she  was  tempted  to  laugh  &  call  bullshit  ;  &  then  the  other  half  she  was  fighting  keeping  the  very  real  shakes  that  wracked  her  tiny  form  under  control.

blues  peeked  over  at  zac  — apparently  the  alpha  of  the  pack  in  their  city  ,  owner  of  the  scent  she’d  been  so  drawn  too…  &  he  sat  there  calm  &  collected  ;  tired  ,  but  otherwise  coming  off  as  unaffected.  it  gave  her  an  inkling  of  hope  ,  but  it  also  kinda  pissed  her  off.

plump  lips  parted  with  a  whine  ,  she  didn’t  care  anymore  ,  he’d  heard  it  all  by  now.  the  sound  was  followed  by  a  frustrated  growl  ,  eyebrows  coming  together  as  she  pouted —  ‘  so  how  long  does  it  take  before  this  doesn’t  fucking  suck  ass  every  time  ? ’ 

                    “I hate to break it to you but, it’s going to suck ass every time.” There was a ghost of a smirk on his lips and he couldn’t help the soft sigh that left his lips as he met Kinsey’s gaze. He honestly didn’t remember the change initially, six centuries had done its job of making him forget the pain and discomfort he had felt when he’d first been bitten. He did remember being just as frustrated as Kinsey seemed to be though and once again he felt a surge of protectiveness bubble up in his chest. 

                    He wanted to know who had done this to her and just left without telling her anything about what to expect as the moon grew fuller throughout the month. No of course not whoever they were just left and now he was here cleaning up their mess. Oh the hell there was going to be to pay if it turned out that the lycan responsible was one of his own.

                    “You will get used to it though,” he offered after a moment, this time sparing her a comforting smile. Now wasn’t the time to focus on what he didn’t know. Instead he wanted to help Kinsey as much as he could, the worst was yet to come if the shivers wracking her body were anything to go by. “There’s a blanket behind you if you’re cold. And I have some tea here that is supposed to help, if you’d like to try a cup?”

𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓼𝓾𝓫𝓽𝓵𝓮 𝓫𝓾𝓻𝓷 𝓸𝓯 𝓪𝓵𝓬𝓸𝓱𝓸𝓵 𝓬𝓻𝓪𝔀𝓵𝓲𝓷𝓰   down   her   throat   is   a   sensation   she   has   long   since   grown   numb   to   ;   the   martini   balanced   delicately   between   taloned   digits   is   nothing   more   than   a   show   of   THEATRICS   and   GLAMOUR   ;   free   hand   rolls   the   toothpick   between   the   pads   of   her   fingertips   idly   as   a   single   ,   tapered   fang   pierces   the   supple   flesh   of   the   olive   tacked   to   the   pointed   end.   juice   drips   down   her   chin   before   teeth   dig   into   the   hollow   spot   where   the   pit   was   once   settled   at   the   center   of   the   fruit   &   as   aera   gnaws   on   it   ever   so   slightly   ,   a   sigh   slips   past.   how   TEDIOUS   existence   could   become   when   over   nine   centuries   of   life   had   been   spent   chasing   the   adrenaline   rush   of   her   own   FREEDOM   ;   while   new   york   city   had   provided   a   much   needed   change   of   pace   ,   the   vampiric   she-devil   cannot   help   the   boredom   that   lingers   in   obsidian   depths.   her   gaze   sweeps   over   the   clientele   gyrating   to   the   beat   of   the   music   ,   air   heavy   with   𝑷𝑬𝑹𝑺𝑷𝑰𝑹𝑨𝑻𝑰𝑶𝑵 & 𝑨𝑳𝑪𝑶𝑯𝑶𝑳.   she   considers   picking   out   a   delectable   piece   of   flesh   for   a   late   night   snack   when   delicate   sensibilities   sense   something   FERAL   and   CANINE   in   the   midst.

interest   piques   automatically   ,   causing   her   to   sit   straighter   &   a   red-bottomed   heel   to   bob   in   curiosity.   and   oh                     when   she   sees   him   ,   a   gasp   of   surprise   mingled   with   JOY   escapes   her.   fashioned   like   the   current   lead   death   dealer   in   body   &   form   ,   but   distinctly   BEAST   in   his   scent                     and   that   single   ,   bone-white   ocular   …   the   rumored   𝙰𝙻𝙿𝙷𝙰   of   the   pack   of   lycans   had   made   his   arrival   &   aera   is   nothing   short   of   impressed.   a   smirk   dances   across   ruby   lips   and   though   the   desire   to   reach   for   him   persists   ,   she   schools   herself   into   patience.   a   lady   ,   after   all   ,   is   meant   to   be   pursued.   long   lashes   flutter   and   as   the   man   approaches   ,   she   exhales   a   soft   ,   breathy   laugh.   she   nibbles   at   the   end   of   her   toothpick   coyly   ,   hiding   the   smile   threatening   to   give   way   behind   it.   ❛   martini.   ❜   it’s   all   she   says   ,   but   her   confidence   is   laced   with   saccharine   delicacy.   expectant   but   lady-like                       a   walking   deception.   ❛   in   case   you   were   wondering.   ❜

                    The bar was alive with activity, unusual for a weekday night but he wasn’t all that concerned about it. He’d already had one hell of a night and he wasn’t in the mood for anything else to go wrong. Perhaps if he didn’t see anything he wouldn’t need to actively get involved. The thought alone made the Lycan laugh, running a hand through his hair as the other easily unbuttoned his coat. Even if he tried he knew that he wouldn’t turn away from a pack member in need. Which is part of what had made him the pack’s alpha in the first place.

                   Moments later Zacharie’s thoughts came to a screeching halt, much like a driver who’d nearly missed a stop sign when speeding through the city; and he knew that he wasn’t going to get the nice relaxing night he had hoped for. He knew he could easily just pretend he didn’t see the vampire sitting at the bar, walk right by her and take his own seat. But there was something intriguing about the way that she was watching him. And Zacharie had always been too curious for his own good.

                    “If you think you’re telling me something that I don’t already know you’re gravely mistaken.” There was a smugness to his words as Zacharie’s icy blue eyes narrowed suspiciously. He might not have recognized the speaker, but that did nothing to stop the lycan from casually kicking the lifeless body away from him with the tip of his boot. He’d come here to do a job and he wasn’t all that thrilled at the idea of being interrupted. He'd learned a long time ago not to let his guard down. No matter what.

                    “Something I could help you with? Or do you always go around offering unsolicited advice?”

@babywretched​ asked: “i don’t know why my body is so intent on sabotaging my brain when my brain is perfectly capable of sabotaging itself.”

                    His heart went out to the young lycan curled up on his couch. When she had first found him, Zac hadn’t hesitated to offer her a place to stay or just an open door whenever she needed it. He knew the transition period was tougher for some than it was for others and as the head of New York City’s pack it was his job to make sure that any Lycan within the boundaries was looked after. “Clearly it never received the memo that sabotage was already taken care of.” His tone was light, almost playful as he took a seat on the chair opposite his couch. ❛   i   don’t   really   give   a   damn   how   you   choose   to   dispose   of   it.   burn   it,   eat   it   —   fuck   if   i   care.   ❜   the   callous   growl   LURKING   beneath   the   surface   is   flippant   —-   and   had   any   other   death   dealer   from   their   ranks   been   present   ,   zaiden   may   have   been   subject   to   a   scolding   for   𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐔𝐁𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍   of   his   higher   ups   …   but   with   only   himself   &   his   ex   lover   as   his   witness   ,   the   dark-haired   vampire   finds   that   he’s   grown   awfully   BOLD.   he   turns   pointedly   on   his   heel   ,   letting   his   back   face   damien   as   he   takes   a   long   ,   drawn-out   moment   to   adjust   the   leather   clinging   to   silver-ringed   digits.   ❛   i’ll   be   sure   to   report   to   aleksander   that   we   had   a   bit   of   a   situation   out   here   in   brooklyn.   ❜   his   tone   lapses   back   into   the   COLD   ,   calculating   timbre   of   a   soldier   carrying   out   the   destructive   whims   of   a   war   far   out   of   his   own   reach.   —-   and   when   he   gives   damien   another   mute   glare   over   his   shoulder   ,   it’s   one   that   refuses   to   bow   down.   not   to   himself   &   certainly   not   to   a   man   who   thinks   he   can   get   away   with   emotionally   breaking   him   century   after   century.   ❛   you   better   step   your   game   up   ,   sinclair.   i   might   dethrone   you   from   the   top   of   our   ranks.   ❜

                    “Well sometimes you act just like a little fledgling.” The retort left his lips before he could think over his words. But as he fixed the other vampire with a hard look Damien didn’t regret what we said. He had trained Zaiden true, and he knew that the other was more than capable of taking care of himself. That wasn’t up for debate. But Damien knew that he was always going to worry about Zade when it looked like he was getting himself in over his head. As his comrade toes the beast lying lifeless in the alley Damien’s gaze snapped down to take him in. Even half transformed the lycan would have towered over the two of them if he were standing upright. He knew how he needed to dispose of the lycan, but he didn’t care for the flippant tone that Zade was taking with him now.

                   “You can dislike me as much as you want to, no one is arguing that fact Hendricks.” Damien snapped with a hard gaze. “But take care to remember that I am still your superior. Do not speak to me like that.” His tone was flat, laced with warning as he stepped forward to properly assess the lycan on the ground. He didn’t look up at Zaiden as he felt the other death dealer’s eyes on him, instead just shaking his head with a frown. “Don’t make idle threats Hendricks.” He murmured as he finally raised his gaze to meet the icy blue of Zaiden’s. “That’s a bit beneath you don’t you think? If Aleksander wanted me removed he would have done so already.”
