A highly calculated, dominant personality like his needs some kind of outlet for his more vulnerable sides. In the bedroom, that man wants to be taken care of. He wants to "let go", lay back, and be enjoyed like a praline most of the time.
Erik clearly holds emotional dominance over Istvan in some way. Istvan begged for his life afterall! His most vulnerable and weak moments are all related to Erik. This translates perfectly into him submitting to Erik behind closed doors, in a "noone would ever dare to do this to me except you" kind of way.
Istvan intentionally raised Erik to be strong, to take, to indulge in his wants. He'd like to see his training be fruitful... in all contexts. He'd praise Erik's fitness and how big and strong he's grown. He finds that it is the natural order... as young men are so much more energised and still youthfully hasty when it comes to fucking.
In some instances, when he feels particularly euphoric due to a big recent sucess, he'd be a power bottom and put more energy into it... in that case he'll like to see Eriks flushed and overwhelmed face while riding him, almost as if Istvan is just pleasuring himself during his powertrip.
The first few times they did it, Istvan probably carefully yet firmly guided Erik through it. He'd whimper and moan, especially looking at Erik and knowing that's his boy... but he'd also critique the D during it "slower, don't fuck me like I'm a whore!", "put more hip into it, I wanna feel you deep."... you get what I mean.
Overall I'd say it's pretty obvious to me that Istvan Toth is a bottom. It just fits. I hope my argumentation will help to more accurately represent the character in fan-media. Thank you.
