I started off 2010 finishing high school, being thrown out of my own friend group, unsure what to expect in college, and relied on Speak Now to get me through the year. I got lost in album and with all the drama going on in my life I just needed songs like Mean as an escape. I went to my first concert during the Speak Now tour and cried from joy. When I failed my exam from spending so much time trying to win tickets my professor asked if seeing Taylor Swift was worth it and I looked her straight in the face and said yes. I needed that concert more than anything. I understood why my sister was such a huge fan of Taylor and I 100% got it.

Flash forward 10 years. Here I am at 27 with one of the craziest years of my life. I spent nearly a year in a relationship that I watched slowly fall apart. When I got out of the relationship I just felt lost. My friends all wanted to convince me he was at fault and paint him out to be someone he wasnt. I shut everyone and everything out again. My friends kept telling me to listen to music but I couldn't for weeks. I finally sat down on the piano and all I wanted was to learn All Too Well. Every time I started to play I cried, every time I thought of the song I'd cry. I finally started listening again and each lyric and note hit me harder than ever. I just spent weeks crying and leaving the one song on repeat, until I heard Lover was coming out and started listening to the rest of Taylor's catalog again. Songs hit me harder than ever. I used Taylor Swift as my escape again. Every time I thought of my ex, I'd play her music louder. As crazy as it sounds, I still havent played any other music since my breakup, the only music I feel connected enough too is from Taylor.

When Lover came out, I used it as my escape once again. I wanted to text my ex the day it dropped but started streaming the album and "I Forgot That You Exsisted" made me realize I didnt need to. I kept listening and kept using Taylor's music to just forget everything and be happy. I started following swifties on twitter and used them as my escape too. I've met some of the sweetest people that have helped keep me sane and really have to say thank you for that

In October I took a trip to NYC and camped out for SNL tickets to see Taylor, even for 2 minutes, because I know it would help me forget my problems. My sister and I camped out, and I was beyond excited that she would finally get the chance to see Taylor live too. When Loverfest tickets dropped, I managed to get us tickets to see her in concert together. It'll be my sister's first ever concert, and my second, and I cant wait to share that with her.

Really, here we are at the end of 2019, and honestly Taylor's music has helped me through it all. Forgetting toxic friends, getting out of relationships that can only hurt you, and finding more friends who will always be there for you. Thank you for being a true constant in my life over the past 10 years, and happy 30th birthday 🥳❤
