“You’re only breaking it if the clock strikes 12 midnight. Come on. My treat!”

“I was the one who asked, so it’s on me.”

“Southwood loves a good party, that’s for sure.”

“Major props to the committee that organized it. I never saw this happen at my old school.” 

“You can’t.” Freddie nodded proudly. “I’m on a cool factor you cant reach, with my totally rad plastic glasses. Envy me.”

“That’s it. I admit defeat. You’re just too cool.” Unable to take herself serious anymore, Taylor laughed. “I’m sorry, this is just too much.”

“Come on, I think I look all cool and festive. You’re just jealous of my awesome shades.”

“Super jealous,” she said in a mocking tone. “How can I compete with those glasses?”

“Yeah, that’s totally fine. Are you enjoying the party so far?”

“Well it’s... interesting. I didn’t expect this many people to be here.”

“I can’t believe you–” he sighed, adjusting the teddy on his shoulders. “–think of all the sensible prize choices you could have made and instead you chose to go for the absolutely pathetic one.”

“And pass up the opportunity to get a giant teddy bear? No way. If you don’t want it, I can hold it myself.”

“Okay, top five New Year’s resolutions from the top of your head and… go!” Delilah said excitedly as she held onto her notebook tightly. 

“Eat healthier, work on some issues... is two good for now? I’m not that big on resolutions.”

“Yes, I know I look funny with a buzz cut. What exactly are you trying to acheive by telling me this? I can’t do anything now except let it grow out again.”

“I didn’t mean in it a ‘wow that’s hideous’ kind of way. It looks funny but in a good way, you know? Besides, everyone has their fair share of haircuts they regret.” 

“Adele’s ‘Hello’ is giving me some serious inspiration while working on my novel. Gosh, this song is so beautiful.”

“That seems like good inspiration if it’s gonna be a book where I need a box of tissues next to me at all times.”
