β’ Yang hides her prosthetic with bandages at first because she runs an underground mechanic shop! She steals materials from the castle and such and uses them to make prosthetics and tools for the people in town. After she gets closer to Blake she doesn't quite feel the need to hide it so it's a little more visible! She's also super proud of the work she's done on it.
β’ Ruby and Yang have their dad, but he's often away helping other, less fortunate villages so he can be gone for months at a time
β’ Yang has the ability to control fire! It's how she's able to forge prosthetics and tools but of course she has to keep it hidden since humans aren't supposed to have powers
β’ the townspeople adore Ruby and Yang both and everybody knows them
β’ Ruby is usually the stealthiest when they steal because she's very nimble
β’ Yang is not quite so stealthy and has almost been caught a couple times but the townspeople always hide her
β’ Weiss used to be part of the town, but her sister is the second in command of Pyrrha, so she was able to give Weiss a comfortable life
β’ Blake and Yang met when Pyrrha almost catches Yang stealing from the palace. She chases her all the way into town where Blake snuck out to. She's in disguise (think Jasmine from Aladdin, a lot of this first meeting has quite a bit of inspo from the Disney movie whoops) and when she sees Pyrrha reprimanding Yang and about to arrest her, Blake steps in and diffuses the situation by revealing her face to Pyrrha without giving herself away to anybody else in the town. (Like. She's got her hood up so, y'know. Hopefully that makes sense alfjfhsh)
β’ Blake sneaks out of the palace often, and the reason she had the day she met Yang was to escape an outburst from Adam
β’ After Pyrrha leaves Blake and Yang, it starts to downpour (I think of Menagerie as a tropical climate?) and Yang takes Blake to her house to get out of the rain
β’ Ruby is out, so the two settle in. Blake seems a bit chilly and Yang tries to start a fire normally but she can't get it to light so she hesitantly uses her power
β’ Blake finally takes off her cloak since it's soaked and Yang kind of goes white bc "oh shit I just did that in front of the princess" but Blake assures her she's not interested in reporting her to Adam as she knows any human with powers is immediately killed off.
β’ Yang is skeptical bc she knows Blake is betrothed to Adam but Blake explains that it's pretty much by force bc her family knows Adam has no issues taking out anybody who dares to defy his wishes.
β’ Also Adam is the king of Mistral, he overthrew Sienna and is currently in the process of taking over the kingdom of Vale where the rebels are primarily stationed to retaliate. It's where the war currently is.
β’ The war basically pits humans against each other due to faunus royalty using the humans in their kingdoms as pawns.
β’ Yang starts to trust Blake a bit after hearing her explain her distaste of the war and resentment towards Adam
β’ mmmmaybe they met once before when they were super young?? Still hashing out how that could've happened but y'all know I'm a slut for childhood "friends" to future lovers
β’ Weiss and Pyrrha have an awkward relationship since Weiss still has lingering feelings for Pyrrha. Eventually she starts to reciprocate Sun's feelings, probably after a heart to heart w/ Pyrrha or smth
β’ Sun often keeps his visits to Menagerie on the down low because of Adam's jealousy despite him and Blake just being friends
β’ Jacques might be king of Atlas, appointed by Adam because he provides the kingdoms' armies with weapons. It's only for show though, Adam's the one really calling the shots.
