“It takes a bit more training than watching how someone else does it.” Kieran mentioned. “I’m sure it’s a decent start. Though something tells me hospital work isn’t quite what you would enjoy.” Given how eager she had been to leave. “There’s a spell that will help with some of your wounds, but the potions will deal with everything.” 

“Oh because you’re mister know it all. You have all the answers now, don’t you?” A scoff left her lips. “You’re right, it’s not. Not that you know me at all. I much prefer being out there in the thick of the action.” She admitted reluctantly. “Well can I not take the potions to go?”

“If you’d taken the path of a healer, then maybe we could have arranged for that. But, that’s not the case.” Kieran shrugged, offering her a fake apologetic smile. “If you’d sit still and wait for the potions to brew, then maybe.” 

“I’m sure I can give it a try. I visited Madam Pomfrey enough to be able to watch how she worked.” A fake smile of her own, fell across her lips. “There’s no spell? Potions sound like a whole lot of waiting.”

Alec laughed lightly at the woman’s comment. “Fair enough,” he nodded, shrugging in the process. “You take it however you want.” He had a feeling she did that a lot, anyway. “Oh yeah? And what reasons are they?” He cocked his head to the side, genuine curiosity masking his features. If it wasn’t only to rescue people, then what?

“Well you seem like a pain. I’ve only known you very briefly and I already get that impression from you.” Even she could hear the humour in her tone which she shocked her, she hadn’t made a joke or tried to tease people in... she couldn’t even remember how long it had been. She cleared her throat awkwardly and tried to compose herself reminding herself that she needed to focus. “I-- There’s someone I have some unfinished business with there. I need to return the favour, I guess you could say.”

Alec listened to the brunette’s words, pressing his lips together as she spoke. His arms were crossed over his chest as he peered down at the woman. She spoke like she had twenty years on him, but he was pretty sure he was older. “I know quite well how true that is.” He informed her, his arms dropping to his sides. How could he not when his little brother was an example of it? Give or take. “You don’t have to freak out just because I’ve come to see how you’re doing.“ His tongue rolled along his bottom lip as he met her gaze. “Besides, there’s nowhere to run.” He shrugged, a smile tugging on his lips.

“Well then if that’s the case you should know better.” She replied back stubbornly, as she refrained from her usual eye roll. “You should be running for the hills.” Why did he have to carry on following her? First he’d followed her out of town because he refused to let her go alone, which only helped to prove her original thoughts correct. After all, she was currently confined to a hospital bed. “Freak out? I’m not freaking out, you’re freaking out.” She knew her retort was childish but her thoughts weren’t at their best with all the muggle pain relief they had been giving her. His words made her feel a little uncomfortable, after all he was right. She had no where to run. It meant that she couldn’t do her usual trick and if things started to get difficult or uncomfortable, she couldn’t avoid or escape it. “Who says I’m running. There’s nothing for me to run from.”

“If you want to be back out there, then you’re going to have to stay put until you’ve healed.” Kieran said, shaking his head. “You’ve already made your wounds worse as it is.” 

“How about you sit here and I’ll tell you what to do?” She replied back sarcastically. “Can’t you hurry up the healing process?”

“People aren’t always who you think they are. You learn to see through it. You learn fast." She didn’t know whether she was talking about other people or herself. She just knew that she had to warn him off now, before anyone got hurt. She refused to let that list grow any longer. “If you were sensible, you’d be running in the opposite direction before you realise just how true that is.”

Silence had occupied much of their time walking together since they’d managed to leave the town – and she’d managed to accept his proposal of going with her. So, when her voice filled the space between them, he was a little shocked. His brows raised and he looked to his side at her. “I guess that would depend on who you ask.” He shrugged, chuckling lightly. “But you’re a bit of a special case yourself – looking to be a one-woman rescue party.” 

The male was obviously caught off guard by her question but he answered it nonetheless. "That sounds like a yes" She replied smirking.  “I’m going to take it as a yes anyway because the whole asking people thing just sounds like a hassle.” She couldn’t help but find it amusing that he seemed to be shocked by her talking but kept it to herself. “There’s nothing special about me. I’m no different to anyone else. Besides, I have my own reasons for wanting to get into their camp. I have some unfinished business.”

A smile almost found its way to his lips from his amusement at her comment, but he managed to prevent such. Alec was aware that he could handle himself, and had done so quite well up until now, but she just didn’t seem capable of believing it. The dark-haired wizard nodded. “Sounds good to me.” He could see that she still wasn’t happy about the situation. “Lead the way,” he said, extending his arm out.

Some time had passed since their argument and they’d finally been able to break away from camp, and normally she was thankful for the silence but that was usually when she was on her own and enjoying the solitude. However in this instance all she could think of was how she couldn’t take the awkward silence between the two of them anymore and what she had to do to try and end it. “Are you always this much of a pain? Or am I just getting special treatment?” She questioned as they carried on walking. Surely they couldn’t be much further from the camp. 

“Merlin, am I glad to see the back of this room..” Iris sighed softly, peering around the hospital room for the last time before carefully walking toward the door.

“I’ll happily volunteer to help put you in another if you’d like?”

“It isn’t a risk you have to take at all.” Alec informed her, but he was almost certain that she was not going to listen to that comment. “Well then, we’ll make a deal.” He said, meeting her gaze. “I will accompany you, and if I fuck up in any way – you don’t have to save my ass and can go about your business without me.” By that point, she would have to anyway. “That way you don’t have to worry about dead weight and I don’t have to worry about you going out there on your own.” 

“Right, because I want that on my conscience.” She scoffed at him, knowing full well that if anything did happen to him she wouldn’t be able to just walk away and leave him to be attacked or injured. “Fine. We go at my speed and if you can’t keep up then you get left behind.” She sighed exasperated knowing there was no other option and that if they carried on arguing she’d never get to take down Bas. 

“You’re right, it doesn’t mean that you will. But I don’t think it suggests that you won’t end up in their shoes.” The brunette seemed to be rushing into something without thinking it through properly. That certainly wasn’t something that suggested success in any situation she’d come to find herself in. “Auror’s who have trained for years have died trying to do the very same thing – they knew what they were doing too.” It wasn’t that he didn’t believe she could handle herself – she certainly looked like she could. But who knew how many of them were out there? Compare that to one of her, and the cards were not in her favour. “Extra help isn’t a burden.” He stated, assuming from her words that she opposed that stance. “I’ve been at this longer than you.” Alec reminded her, raising a brow. “I think I’ll be fine. And you don’t really have a choice.”

Octavia rolled her eyes not justifying the male with an answer knowing deep down he was right. "Well I guess that's a risk I'm going to have to take." She gave a shrug as if it was no big deal and it wasn't her life she was risking. "I disagree. I don't know you, for all I know you're dead weight and useless in a fight - I don't need you weighing me down."

Logan shook his head at the female. He’d tried too many times to tell her to keep her attitude in check, it seemed to be something she really struggled with. “Octavia.” He stated with a pointed look.

“Logan.” She repeated his name back to him, making her voice sound slightly more deeper. “Now, do you have any more ridiculously obvious questions to ask? I’m kind of in a hurry you see.”

The brunette certainly had a point – it was her choice, but he still didn’t feel comfortable letting her go. “And I imagine a lot of the casualties of war say the very same thing before they end up suffering awful fates.” He didn’t want to argue with her about this, and he could see that there was almost no way he was going to win the argument. Still, she had to see the flaws in her mindset – surely. “It’s easier to get captured that way if you make one bad movement, though. You’re not going out there alone.” He was absolutely certain about that. Alec’s lips curved into an amused smile and he shook his head. “I’m sure you would.” She was certainly the stubborn type and he had no doubt that she would have gone easy on him. He, on the other hand, might have. “You might think that, but no one goes out there without back-up. I’m not letting you run off to your imprisonment, or death on my watch. So that’s the only way around the matter.”

“They’re not me.” She huffed out in annoyance. “Don’t compare them to me. Just because they made stupid choices and managed to get themselves captured or killed, does not mean that I will. I know what I’m doing. I wouldn’t risk the other’s lives if I wasn’t sure I could do it.” She knew that she sounded arrogant or over confident when realistically there was no way Octavia knew if she would survive. How could she when she couldn’t control the outcome of what was to happen or predict her opponents next move. Even with the training that she had received from Logan, there was no telling how she would actually do when she came to multiple Death Eaters, all she knew was that she was willing to risk it if it meant taking out as many as possible. Though if she was honest, there was one particular Death Eater that she was after. “No, I’ll be easy to capture if I’m busy worrying about whoever is with me rather than concentrating. Like I said, I’m better on my own.” Her head tilted to the side as she listened to him, considering what he was trying to say. “Whoa, whoa, whoa. You? Your coming with me?” She scoffed shaking her head. “You’re not coming with me. You won’t last two minutes.”
