The Museum of Broken Relationships, which will be opening a new chapter in Los Angeles, California in May 2016, is dedicated to featuring relics shared between individuals during their doomed relationship. Each object is accompanied by a typewritten card explaining the history of the object - for example, one rubber apron affixed with fake breasts was donated by a woman whose ex-boyfriend asked her to wear it during sex. Another object, a blinking red light, was donated by a man who was given the gift by his ex-boyfriend, so that he wouldn’t get lost in the dark. The man donated the object after his ex-boyfriend went on to commit suicide alone in a hotel room, and requested that the blinking light be kept on during the exhibit, as it reminded him of a beating heart.
