A pet peeve of mine is the very frequent tendency in the fandom (particularly fanfictions) that if anything Xenos IS even involved (a rarity in of itself) it has to be made subordinated to something in the Imperium.
Stuff like the annoying 'Russ saves Isha,' or the many 'Isha x some Primarch/Emperor' or making a Primarch or Marine have some love interest who's a human but always has like an Aeldari goddess in her body or something, or the very frustrating captive T'au woman falls in love with her captors (who want to exterminate her entire species and every other species coexisting in the T'au Empire).
It is bad enough that GW already does this now, with every Xenos plot point only ever mattering if it is a vehicle for something Imperium related (see everything about the Ynnari or how the T'au have virtually ceased to exist now that GW is unwilling to ever let anyone but Space Marines and Primarchs matter) but the fact that the fandom is so rife with it too is very frustrating for me.

Some of us who write for WH40K don't need an Imperium "white savior", ever.
