You also learn that you and the dog have the same job. You are the happiest scientist on Erid.

Finished watching Drive and never have a understood yet confounded by a character. I completely understand Driver's feelings and reasonings during the whole movie. There is a wild animal inside of him capable of great violence but he is just a man who wants to be loved, useful, and have a regular life. He almost gets it with Irene and Becinio. He is even starting a new venture that doesn't involve the darker side of society! But then it all goes to shit.

What confounds me is WHY he is this way. What happened in his first 20 years, before Shannon, that made him become a creature of violence and survival. It is terrifying and makes him sympathetic. Maybe it is mentioned in the book but I haven't read it.

(also what is with the scorpion??? Metaphor if get to close you get stung? How they are creatures who survive in the harvest environments? SOMETHING ELSE????)
