Though Taryn has been through some tough times in her life, she keeps a pretty positive attitude. She’s resilient and practical. She’s an optimistic realist. Her head does not stay in the clouds, but she likes to visit them more often than not. She is friendly and enjoys being around good people. While Taryn tries to stay on the positive, she does have her less positive traits. She can get anxious when she falls too much into the realist side of her personality. She also has a hint of perfectionism that she dismisses when people call her out about it, but she knows it’s completely true. She has a tendency to overthink as well. She’s stubborn which sometimes works in her favor but can also stress her out. She does not handle stress well. Her most frequent coping mechanism is to chain smoke and think about the situation continuously. She is very loyal to her friends, but if a person was to cross or betray her, she would cut them off immediately and pretend that they never existed.
Taryn was born to model and part-time actress, Lila Ramsey and accountant, Eric Ramsey on a sunny day in May in the Golden State better known as California. The two thought they were ready for children, but quickly found out that having a baby and raising it wasn’t all it was portrayed to be. They loved their daughter, but Lila did not like how much her body changed and how hard it was to get model ready again. Eric didn’t like to see his wife upset so he did not push to give Taryn siblings. They were more than content with having one and continuing their lives together.
Taryn’s life was pretty normal until she turned six. That’s when her body held more weight than it had when she was younger. She was never sure why it happened, but it did. She also grew taller than all the other children in her class. It made her stand out, but not in a way that she liked. They teased her a bit which horrified her mother. She wanted Taryn to be liked…loved even as she was. She put her on diets and dressed her in designer labels. Unfortunately, she taught her daughter that if others weren’t happy with you, then something was wrong with you. It was Taryn’s paternal grandmother, Ruth who changed Taryn’s perspective. Ruth was built like her and always had been. She showed Taryn as long as you love yourself, it didn’t matter what anyone else thought. Ruth also put the love of baking into Taryn’s life. They would bake together every other weekend when she visited her along with some of her cousins. While her cousins’ interest waned in the activity, Taryn fell more and more in love with it. She found it was something she was good at and it made her feel good to see the joy her sweet treats gave others.
While spending the weekend at her grandmother’s house, Taryn met Anastasia Qiao. As soon as they met, they clicked. Taryn found it so easy to be around her and Stasia never minded that she was bigger than her even though Taryn was younger than her. They quickly became best friends and their friendship has lasted throughout their adult years.
Tragedy struck Taryn for the first time in her life when her grandmother passed. Taryn was seventeen and in her senior year of high school. It absolutely devastated her because she really wanted her grandmother to see her graduate. Yet, through tragedy, Taryn was inspired. She knew she had a passion for baking and she wanted to honor her grandmother so she decided that she would open a bakery and use the recipes her grandmother taught her. Taryn wanted to open her bakery immediately after she graduated, but her parents insisted that she go to college. Image was still important to them. How would it look if their daughter didn’t go to college like the majority of her peers? Determined to still open her bakery, Taryn made an agreement with her parents. If she went to college and graduated, they would need to fully fund her bakery for its entire first year. They agreed. Taryn attended and graduated from Pepperdine University with her bachelor’s degree in business. As promised, her graduation gift was a storefront on a busy street not too far from her grandmother’s old house. After renovations, licensing, and a few dozen burned or failed baked goods, Taryn opened Ruth’s Bakery. The first year was hard, but she made it through breaking even on the business. The next year she made a profit and it only went up from there. It wasn’t the best bakery in the country, but it did well. She had regulars and even secured some corporate catering contracts for her baked goods.
At twenty-six, Taryn had a thriving business and a condo not too far from her bakery. She also got her dog, Meesha, a red heeler. She loved her as soon as she saw her in a box in the alley between her apartment building and the restaurant next to it. She couldn’t believe someone would just leave a little puppy there to fend for herself. She took her in immediately and they have been inseparable ever since. In this same year, Taryn met the love of her life, Simon Gardener. He was an up and coming photographer and had emailed her to see if he could take some pictures for her business. She was a huge supporter of other small businesses so she agreed. When he came into the bakery, he was nothing like Taryn expected. He had hair that stopped under his chin, some interesting choice tattoos, and he drove a motorcycle. He looked like someone out of a motorcycle club, but when he smiled at her, Taryn forgot her name. Once Simon had taken a bite of her double chocolate chip muffins and shared a conversation with her, he was enamored as well. It was after he completed his job for her that they went on their first date. It started at the neighborhood fair and ended at breakfast at IHOP the next morning. They had spent almost twenty-four hours together, but it felt like ten minutes to them.
Their relationship flourished as well as their businesses. Taryn helped Simon make a business plan and get a studio. Simon convinced Taryn that she needed to expand the bakery to a cafe. Taryn let him meet Meesha and Simon let her meet his Alaskan Malamute, Nanook. Just like Taryn and Simon, Meesha and Nanook got along, but in a much more platonic way. Mostly because Meesha bossed him around and Nanook didn’t mind it. They all moved in together and six months later, they found Phoenix at a rescue center and brought the red golden Vizsla home to complete their little family. Three years into their relationship, Simon took Taryn to the little island of Catalina for the weekend. After a helicopter ride, they had a lovely picnic overlooking a breathtaking view of the ocean when he got down on one knee and asked Taryn to marry him. She told him yes through tears and chuckles as he slid the unique flower ring on her finger. She was his precious rose as he always called her and her engagement ring reflected just that.
At thirty, Taryn would experience yet another tragedy. She was deep into wedding planning. Her mother was insisting on another diet for her to look her best in her wedding dress. The bakery cafe was doing so well that she was thinking of opening a second location. But in the blink of an eye, that all went away. Taryn still remembers the rainy night that she received the worst call of her life. Taryn had closed the bakery for the day and went to Simon’s studio. He had some editing and developing to do. They ate dinner and talked about the wedding. She told him about her mother’s newest diet suggestion and he rolled his eyes insisting that she was beautiful just as she was and nothing would change that thought for him. They shared some kisses before the rain started and Taryn suggested they go home. Simon declined insisting he needed to finish working on the pictures for his projects. Taryn knew he was just as stubborn and determined as she was so arguing with him was pretty pointless. He wouldn’t be open to listening until the projects were done. She made him promise to come home before she had to get up to open the bakery and he agreed. They shared one last kiss and she reminded him that they had a meeting at their wedding venue the next day to decide the food for the wedding. She made it to the door before turning and watching him for a few moments. She didn’t know it would be the last time she would see him alive. The dogs’ barking woke her up when her phone rang. She felt for Simon’s form in the bed, but felt nothing but sheets and a pillow. The number was unknown, but something told her to answer it. Her heart dropped as the nurse on the other end asked if she knew Simon and that she was listed as his next of kin. He had come into the hospital an hour ago after being hit by a drunk driver and thrown several feet from his motorcycle. The medical teams had tried everything possible, but he didn’t make it. Simon was gone and so were the plans and dreams that Taryn shared with him.
Devastation wasn’t even a good enough word to explain what Taryn experienced. She didn’t know life without Simon in it. She let the expansion go. She closed the bakery for a month. She cancelled all the wedding plans. She laid in bed barely eating or sleeping for months before Stasia convinced her to move to Merrock. Taryn was reluctant to leave at first. To leave all the places that were so special to her and Simon, but she found that being there was harder than not. She permanently closed her bakery cafe. She packed up everything for herself and the dogs and moved them all to the other side of the country and into Stasia’s place in Merrock. As hard as it was to move, Taryn saw the positive in it. She was with her best friend who took care of her and helped her get back on her feet. Within a year, Taryn had bought Cobblestone Cafe from the previous owners and started baking again. A year later, she was able to buy her own townhouse downtown not too far from Stasia’s place. Now, she’s settled in Merrock doing well running the Cobblestone Cafe and trying to live her life the best way she can.

ఇ "Now I don't believe that for one minute. Anything can be interesting with the right setting." A vague gesture to the fireworks. It may be true that in comparison to the light show, little was interesting, but he finds Taryn really does have interesting answers. He has a natural questioning nature too although he does try to relegate that to his job only these days. The fireworks fade out, the colors draping down toward the beach, and Seungbin sighs. It was weird to feel a bit saddened by the end. Should he say that? "I did enjoy it, but I'm feeling a bit ... nostalgic?" He wrinkles his nose. "I don't know how else to describe feeling sad that it's over without feeling sad." He truly was trying to express his emotions more instead of letting them simmer but it was hard to find the words on the fly. This is why he always writes his announcements prior to their actual announcing, it gives him time to prepare their intonation.
A mental note is made. "Cherry next time then. I had mixed berries on my mind, feels very summery, but not as much as pineapple ... which didn't have any flavor to me." He makes a face. The pause alerts that the second show will be starting up. On the last day of the carnival it might add to the whole nostalgic feeling. Another summer going by and another marker of time passing in their town. "It was more like water and citrus. Maybe I'm just a citrus hater as the kids say." When Marisol started using slang and tossing it at him and laughing, then he really would know they were all getting older. For now he picks up bits and pieces from hearing others talk.
"I guess that's kind of true. I feel like my most interesting answers would have to be baking or food related. Those are things I know best." she grinned over to him. She smiled softly as he said he felt a bit nostalgic after the fireworks show was over. "Well, don't worry. In about another twenty or so minutes, the second show will start and you'll get to see the beautiful display again." Merrock always did two shows of fireworks during the carnival. "I get what you're saying. The fireworks are one of my favorite parts of the carnival too."
Taryn hummed and scrunched her nose at his sno*cone flavors. "Yeah, pineapple is very deceiving. I think cherry does have more of the berry flavor you were probably looking for." She looked around and grabbed a clean spoon from a food booth before sticking it in her own sno*cone and pulling out a spoonful for Seungbin to try. She chuckled softly as he spoke using Marisol's lingo. She had heard many of the kids that come into the cafe and hater was definitely a word she knew. "When citrus is mixed with the right flavors I feel like you would like it better. Like, I have some citrus pastries at the cafe. Come by there and give them another try." she grinned.
"I actually did know that! I frequently think to myself that I've never known another person like you, Taryn, in all my life," he said with a laugh, shaking his head. But there was some truth to it, she was definitely the kind of person that he wouldn't find anywhere else. "Ah, does that mean cat lovers have to eat outside?"
"It's a rush. I know, I get it, donor cycle," he rolled his eyes playfully, knowing that it was one of his mother's favorite things to remind him of, even as he promised to always be as safe as possible. Mothers worried, at the end of the end of the day. "Okay, good," he laughed a little more loudly, nodding his head, catching the way that she reached for the ring and smiling to himself. "I've let that slip a few times, 'oh, you ride a crotch rocket!' to get some odd looks from people who aren't in the know. But they can be fun. I have a Kawasaki from the nineties that's a rocket, and I love her. You really feel like you're flying."
Taryn laughed with him before offering him a smile. "You know, I don't understand them, but I can't condemn them for their actions so I will be an equal opportunity pet ownership business. It's all in the best interest of my thriving business."
She chuckled again. She had heard the donor cycle term before. She believed her mother had said it to her more than a few times when referring to Simon. Simon's own mother chastised them whenever they went out on it or showed up on it. His dad had always loved it and knew the rush well. "I can only imagine." she grinned. Her lips pressed together softly at the mention of the kind of motorcycle he owned. "Just...just be careful in the rain." she told him softly. It had been a Kawasaki that Simon was riding when the accident happened. She swallowed and looked around the cafe briefly before putting her normal smile back on her face. "Could I persuade you to buy a Merrock shaped cookie for the cause? All proceeds go to buy the resort land back."
“Greatly appreciated.” She accepted the cleaning wipe and wiped her hands clean. Naomi loved being able to catch up with friends. “I feel like we haven’t had time to properly catch up.” Which Nay did feel bad about. She took the first bite of her nachos and mentally agreed with T. “It’s a surprise that’s for sure.” She loved a spicy moment so she loved having flavor. “I’ve been so busy and I feel like summer is just beginning. I broke my lease and… moved in with the mister. A whole house..: with a pool and our dogs. It’s kinda crazy.” In all the best ways, she had no complaints. “Which means you need to come by and lay by the pool with me.”
Taryn nodded her welcome before taking another chip and eating it. These nachos were truly sinful. "I know! Who knew the summer would be so busy?" She crossed her legs and looked out at everyone aroud them. Taryn smiled and nodded back as Naomi had the same surprised flavor thought she did. Her eyes and smile widened at the mention of her moving news. "What?! Nay! That's amazing! I know you had been talking about it before but this is real. I need to know how this all came about! How are we feeling? When did you move in? Will you have a housewarming? Are we getting closer to an engagement?! I'm so happy for you, girl! For both of you!" she smiled happily before hugging her friend. "Oh yes, I will definitely come over and lay by the pool with me. Can I bring my fur babies? You know they go everywhere with me if I'm not at the cafe."
"You don't have to ask me twice, Taryn. Just tell me when you need me to come down here, and I'll drive over during my lunch break or in between house calls," JJ offered, letting out a soft laugh. "Okay, okay... I might have had three on some days. But only because they're really good! I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm the kind of person who would eat the same thing all day every day, especially when I was working the hours I was working." And sitting with Mia when he wasn't working, of course. "I don't know if any of the other doctors would agree with what I have to say. I also don't see myself as a credible source in this matter, as I have only taken one class on nutrition in my life, and that was almost twenty-five years ago. But you definitely don't need my endorsement either. I'm sure your business is doing just fine." Knowing how hard Taryn worked and always treated her customers with warmth and kindness, and having tasted the quality of everything she served, JJ could say for certain that this place would always be packed.
"I try, Taryn." JJ let out another laugh in response to the other's words, shaking his head. "You can count on me to be here when you do. I can't wait," he admitted with a genuine smile. He waited for her to finish up, and then made his way over to a table. Taking a seat across from her, he let out a sigh. "Honestly? Not much. Between work and running after a toddler, I really don't have the time for anything else." Truth be told, JJ himself was starting to become quite tired of giving that same exact response to anyone who asked him how life was going. But he had no clue how else to respond. He worked five days a week, and then he went home to his daughter. There honestly was nothing else going on in his life, and he had no clue how to change that. "I did pick up golf for a hot minute. But I don't think it stuck."
"I'll be sure to have you on call." she grinned, teasing him lightly. "That's fair and I can't judge because you were supporting my business." she chuckled softly. "I don't know. I think eating the exact same thing would be kind of boring. I guess that's the baker in me....or the foodie. There's so many flavors out there. I don't think I could only taste one set for an entire day even." Taryn said with a shrug of her shoulders. It just seemed impossible to her. "I try my best." she smiled up at him.
Taryn leaned back a little in her chair as she listened to JJ. "I hear you. I know parenting is a hard job. I go between here and home and don't think I give my dogs enough attention so I can only imagine with a kid. I know they're not the same, but you know what I mean." Her eyebrows rose as he said he picked up golf. "Really? I don't really see you as a golfer. My dad golfs, but he's boring and uninteresting. You're better than that. You have to find something much more fun to do. Especially now that it's summer. What about sailing or running? I hear run clubs are big trend recently."

Jess finished wiping down one of the tables before making her way over, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear as she smiled at Taryn. "Ugh, yes, not that I’ve been waiting for this all shift," she laughed. "I don't know if that says something about me or the fact that I spend way too much time thinking about coffee." She glanced over the notebook and tray of ideas, nodding along as Taryn explained. "The fruity drinks were so popular at Spring Fling. I had people asking if we were going to keep them on the menu afterward, so bringing them back is definitely a good call." She smiled at the mention of the Merrock-shaped cookies. "And the cookie idea sounds adorable. People eat that kind of thing up, like literally." She chuckled. "It's such a cute way to lean into the whole 'love where you live' theme." At the question about caffeine, Jess's eyes lit up. "Ooh… okay, I've got a few ideas." She leaned against the counter beside Taryn, already talking with her hands. "What if we did some kind of tea lemonade refreshers with green tea instead of plain tea. You still get that fruity, summery vibe, but there's a little caffeine without it being coffee related." Her grin grew even wider. "And for the coffee lovers who swear they don't like fruity drinks…" she held up a finger dramatically, "…a strawberry vanilla cold brew." She paused for a moment before continuing, "I know, I know, it sounds a little strange. But, hear me out. Vanilla sweet cream cold foam blended with a little strawberry puree? It'll be sweet, summery, yet still unmistakably coffee. And I think I’m rambling too much now, so let me know if any of these ideas sound like they would work or is my mad scientist brain going too crazy?”
Taryn couldn't help but chuckle at Jess. "If something is wrong with you then something is definitely wrong with me. You sound like me when I opened my first bakery." The ideas were always flowing when she was younger. That's why she had her notebook and carried it everywhere. She didn't want to forget. "Right? I was thinking that too. The people love the fruity drinks and I thought the Merrock-shaped cookies would be endearing and little souvenirs for the tourists buzzing around town." she nodded. "I had to hand cut them because there is no Merrock-shaped cookie cutter which I'm thinking I may need to create and sell out of the cafe if these cookies become a hit." she grinned before handing her one of the cookies from the tray. "Tell me what you think."
"Yes! I love the idea of caffeinated refreshers. Two of the fruity drinks are tea based and two are lemonade based. Pick your poison." she told the other woman allowing her the chance to choose which drinks should have added caffeine. Taryn crossed her arms over her chest as she listened to Jess' idea about the cold brew. It sounded good, but she needed to see for herself. "Do you think you could make it for me now? Do we have all the ingredients to make it? I want to see and taste it." It wasn't that she didn't trust Jess' suggestion. The woman had saved her ass many times with the barista side of the cafe. She just wanted to see and taste what the customers would experience before putting it out there to be sold.
Taryn smiled as the wind blew threw her hair. She didn't get out to the coast or beach much and she realized she needed to change that. She leaned back as she popped a strawberry half into her mouth and dug her toes into the sand a bit more. Hearing her name from a familiar voice, Taryn smiled and waved Sam over to her spot on the beach. "Come over here! See, I told you I could get you to do something fun on your day off. The beach!" she said excitedly as she put her arms out at the scenery in front of her. "We get a little piece of Cali right here in Merrock. Is this the first fun thing you've done all day?" she grinned eating another piece of strawberry.
"Good, right?" One thing that Ashleigh had learned was that no matter how good the food was where she had grown up, there was something extra special about it there in Merrock. Even the cookies had that little bit of extra something that made them that much better than what she had expected! Although she knew that Taryn knew all about that, considering everything she made at Cobblestone was top notch whenever she stopped in. "You almost need to double the length, you know? Two weeks for Spring Fling, so I can make sure to eat my way through everything," okay, yeah, it was a little bit much, but so was feeling like you missed out on something great! "I do love a good margharita pizza, it kind of just feels like… I don't want to say pizza that's good for you, but you do sort of trick your mind into thinking that."
"So you haven't learned to be a snow bunny yet?" she asked curiously, "since I lived in New York for a bit while I was studying, I feel like I got used to it, but then my first winter here was pretty intense!" There had been a decent amount of snow and even more cold weather, and Ashleigh had survived… but she had also spent a decent amount of time browsing the racks of the thrift store for new, heavy sweaters. "Yeah, of course! Do you ever do fun things like baking two different flavor muffins and then having a competition to see which ones people like the most? I feel like that would be kind of fun," taking a tally, make it a competition. Although it could be pretty impossible to decide, too. "Oh God, yeah, uhm…" she scrunched her face in thought, "the dive bar near me is fun, I've made friends with some really burly fisherman, not going to lie. And Tumbleweed has good line dancing! Your place, duh! I also can't wait to visit that wildflower field? The botanical gardens are nice in the meantime."
Taryn nodded as she chewed the cookie. "Very good. I'm going to have to figure out what they put in them to make them so good." she smiled as she looked at the cookie and ate a few more pieces until it was gone. She hummed and nodded as she agreed with Ashleigh's comment. "Wouldn't that be great?! Then you could go around and make sure you hit every food booth or truck and even if you had the first week, you could go back the second week and get your favorites." It just made all the sense to Taryn for it to be that way. She chuckled and nodded. "That's exactly what I call it. Healthy pizza! I try to tell myself it tastes the same as a nice, cheesy pepperoni and sausage, but it doesn't always work." she shrugged softly.
Taryn chuckled and shook her head. "Not yet. I do have a few cute coats and snow outfits, but they do not a snow bunny make. You were in New York? I don't think I knew about that. Where haven't you been, girl?" she grinned as she looked at the other woman. She wished she had done more traveling. It was something she and Simon had wanted to do after they got married. "You know, I have put out different treats to see which would get received better, but I have never made it into a competition for the town. Sounds interesting. May try it out in the Fall." she said, making a mental note to add that to her notebook for later. She chuckled and nodded. "Well, if burly fisherman are anything like rowdy bikers, I need to go visit that dive bar some time. I've heard about the Tumblweed. I'm not the best dancer, but I wouldn't mind watching everybody else dance." She smiled and put her hands on her own heart as a thank you for Ashleigh naming the cafe as one of her favorite places. "Oh yes! The botanical gardens are beautiful! I finally went there once spring was in full bloom and wow. It was absolutely magical."
"It's essentially sugar on a cone. Despite the different gradients and flavors, it all kind of tastes the same in a way? But still, a great choice nonetheless," Nadine theorized, a hum before noticing Taryn taking notice of Seymour. "Even without them, they still seem quite content," she giggled as she eyed the wagon with the others' pups. "Between you and me, he has a closet of accessories; he's quite the diva," she lowered her voice, as if the floppy-eared beagle would be able to understand her words and accuse her of slander. "Of course he is! And he lives for the attention."
Taryn shrugged. "This is true, but it looks fun and tastes so damn good." She smiled as she looked down at her three dogs. Meesha was half asleep while Nanook and Phoenix were looking around with their tongues hanging out of the side of their mouths. "They've had a great day of running around and getting extra treats so I would say they are very content." she chuckled. Taryn looked from the beagle back to it's owner before nodding. "I wish I had a closet full of those, but my pups seem to destroy them before I can even take a picture of them wearing them." she grinned shaking her head. She leaned over and pet the dog happily. "Gosh, he's so adorable. What's his name?"
ఇ When she mentions the cinder blocks, Pan cranes their head to be on the lookout for the real deal. It does look like someone took off the front wheels, and it was missing the windshield. Maybe the car itself is the firework. They gaze at the small collection in their hands (knowing their wallet was, uh, bare) and sigh. An offer ... could they refuse it? Her pinky was right there. And then there were crazy rides for sure, rickety ones ... their train of thought plays out on their face. "You win this round ... but I ain't letting you talk me outta the next one, Tare. Otherwise I'll go stir crazy." They drop the fireworks like hot pockets and link their pinkies together, then spinning around her with a sudden spike of glee. "Y'know there's gotta be the tilt-a-whirl, it's making a racket on the other side of the carnival. Where's the bougie wallets dropped on supporting our community? It's turnin' this less legit too." They finally stop spinning around her like a top and link their fingertips behind their head, grinning. There's no love lost between them and the elusive Benefactor.
Taryn kept her pinky up, hoping the promise she just made them would happily distract and redirect Pan. She breathed a sigh of relief as they dropped the janky fireworks and walked away from the car, booth, and shady owner. "That's fair." she nodded with a grin. "We're about to throw caution to our bodies as we get on all these rickety rides. I think that's all crazy enough." she chuckled. She had to admit she did appreciate their reckless nature. It reminded her of being with Simon a little. He didn't always push it as far as Pan did, but he liked to push it pretty far. "Let's head to the tilt-a-whirl, though you're making me way more dizzy walking around me like that." she said, grabbing their arm gently to stop them. "The town is trying their best, Pan. We have to work with what we got and what we got is pretty damn cool. I mean, can't you smell the delicious food? Merrock never skimps on food."

"Oh good! Hey, no one likes a spilled drink," Joella nodded. "Well that is a good point. I mean, we could always get something with less of a kick." She waved her hand and shook her head. "Oh no, I'm off duty tonight. I'm working tomorrow, though. I've got my glitter and rainbow pumps and everything ready. Pride in the prohibition era? My favorite thing. The tiny dresses just get tinier, headdresses get bigger and booze gets boozier."
"Okay, I'll take something with less of a kick then." Taryn chuckled softly. "Off duty? I don't think I've seen an off duty Joella before. I like it though. I see. Well, I'll have to come back and see you while you're working. I love seeing your shows." Joella was a great performer and Taryn was definitely here to support her. "You seem like you have it all planned out. It sounds very exciting! Are you doing that all during Pride or just for tomorrow?"
“ I can always make you a batch.” which she didn’t mind doing. Naomi loved baking and the chance to surprise her friends. “Fruity drinks huh? I need me one of those.” She grinned, her eyes widening at all the cheesy goodness of the nachos. She tapped her phone against the card reader to pay for their nachos. “there is an empty bench right there. Rest is in order.” naomi pointed, happy to rest her feet. After a few moments. The smell of cheese and jalapeños hit her nostrils. “Oooh, these look really good.”
"Awww, thank you! And I will have two fruity drinks made for you to take back to you booth. One for you and one for your man." Taryn grinned as they walked to the nacho truck. She smiled at her friend and thanked her again as she paid for the nachos before walking to the bench she saw and sitting down. She took a deep inhale of the nachos and smiled as her stomach grumbled. "They look freaking delicious." she nodded. She got a cleaning wipe out of her cross bag and handed one to Naomi before wiping her own hands and throwing it away in a nearby trash can. She took a chip and popped it in her mouth moaning softly. "Oh that's good! They melted the cheese perfectly and then the jalapeno pops in your mouth."
Taryn locked the doors to the cafe with a sigh. Another day was over and it had been busy. With summer in full swing and people on vacation, it all brought more business to the cafe. Luckily, she had a great staff that helped out. She really didn't know what she would do without them.
Taryn went to the back and grabbed a tray out of fridge and her notebook before coming back out to the counter and putting everything down. "Hey, Jess!" she called. "Let's talk about Dine and Drink." she smiled as she saw the woman come over to her. "I'm advertising the fruity drinks that we did at Spring Fling and the pastel donuts because they were such a hit. I'm also adding Merrock shaped cookies because we're doing all this to show we love Merrock just as it is, right? I didn't put any brews on there because I figured you could work your magic and get the guests to buy some of the wonderful coffee you make when they come in. I was also wondering how we could possibly add some caffeine to the fruity drinks. What do you think?" she asked leaning against the counter.
"Any time! She'd be offended I said 'my mom' and you jumped to 'old'...but she is in her fifties now." Chandler didn't think 53 was that old, but AARP seemed to disagree. "I used to watch some of it with her when I was in high school just so we could do something together. But yeah, I don't know how she does it. It's also so different from her personality at home - I've seen her go into doctor mode and it's totally a whiplash kind of feeling."
Vibrations was definitely something to do. "Yeah, tell me about it. The cafe and cooking are pretty much the only things I do. And video games. I'm not sure i have the patience to crochet, though. A friend did make me a scarf like three years ago, but it's the only one I own. So...I could be in the market for another one if you take up a new hobby. You know, if you're offering."
Taryn frowned softly. "Well, I put my foot in my mouth. What else is new?" she said with a small smile before looking out at the dogs. "Yeah, I hear that watching those kind of shows help turn your brain off when you're in high stress jobs. It's like a coping mechanism of sorts. Maybe it's the same for your mom." she shrugged softly.
"Hmmm, video games...I can't say that I've been good at them in the past, but maybe I should try again." she thought to herself. She didn't even know where to start with video games. "If I wanted to start getting into video games, where would I even start?" she chuckled softly. Crocheting was definitely looking like a real possibility now. "I could be offering. What color yarn should I get for your scarf? You crochet with yarn, right?"
"Much better than something cliche and overdone," he replied with a warm laugh, "and I'm pretty sure that all of the dogs in the world would agree." Or at the very least, the dogs that liked to visit her cafe, none the less.
"No, definitely not. It's not so bad in summer time when you don't have to deal about fallen leaves in the roads, but slick spots are slick spots," no matter what time of year it was, you were going to run into problems with that. "Suzuki's are good bikes, are we talking more of a classic, or a crotch rocket?" He paused, letting out a laugh, "which I realize sounds really lewd, I spend too much time in a garage, clearly, but I mean the kind that are basically built to fly?" Sometimes, when he got talking about cars and bikes, his mind went right to those late nights talking with his dad or Nathan, Hess or Chess as they finished up a project.
"Oh I'm definitely not cliche. I'm one of a kind. You didn't know that?" Taryn teased before laughing. "Damn straight they would. I was thinking I should put a dog's welcome sign in the window, but then I don't want to offend the cat lovers." she grinned.
Taryn nodded. "Oh yeah, of course. There are always different kinds of hazards with bikes. Still doesn't make me not miss the rides though." she shrugged softly. Riding on the back of Simon's bike made up a lot of the core memories of their relationship. She felt like if she got back on a bike, it would be a way of keeping him close to her. Taryn couldn't help but laugh at Josh's words. "You don't have to censor yourself with me. Simon's friends were bikers too and I heard all kinds of things when I was around them. His bikes were all built to fly so yeah, it would be a crotch rocket. He liked the speed." she smiled softly as her fingers found her engagement ring that hung around her neck.

ఇ Seungbin holds both hands up in surrender as he spies Taryn through the dispersing crowd. Most are deciding whether they want to stay on for the second fireworks display or head home, and he has decided he wants to stay a bit longer tonight. He was surprised to see her here, but maybe he shouldn't be? "I promise no burning questions tonight besides which flavor of sno*cone is your favorite, and are you staying for the show? I'm not in ownership of any glowsticks, so I do fear I'm a bit boring this go-round. If not, were you on the way to something else?" He holds a blueberry and a lemon sno*cone to offer if she wants one. If not, he plans on combining them into one and pretending like it's blueberry pie. Something, something, childhood whimsy.
Taryn had always loved watching fireworks. They were so bright and sparkly and they made her feel happy inside. She had been in the middle of the crowd enjoying them until the end. Everyone else was moving on to other places in the carnival, but she was going to stay for the second show. She turned, sticking her hands in the pocket of her jeans before seeing Seungbin. His hands were in the air as if in surrender to her and she slightly rolled her eyes before smiling. "I don't think I would have any interesting answers for you anyway if you asked me." she shrugged.
She hummed at his questions. "I'm more of a cherry sno*cone lover myself, but I will settle for blueberry and yes, I will be staying for the second show of fireworks. I've always loved them." she replied taking the blueberry sno*cone out of his hand. "Did you enjoy the show?" she asked gesturing to the sky where the fireworks just were before taking a spoonful of flavored ice and putting it in her mouth.
Chess let out a small "yay" for a mission accomplished then waited for Taryn to join her. "Oh, absolutely. The weather's great, good company, and everyone seems to be in a positive mood," she replied, her own positivity radiating off of her. "Or at least, that's how my day's been anyway. Have you been finding the moments to enjoy things too?"
Taryn smiled at Chess' enthusiasm. She really enjoyed it. "It's been a good day, hasn't it?" she agreed looking around at everyone as they walked. The townspeople really seemed to have big smiles on their faces and the town felt happy and lighter. This event was a really great thing for town morale. "I've mainly been behind the booth serving everyone, but I always enjoy talking to everybody in town and building those great relationships. It makes my job all the more worthwhile." she said genuinely. Taryn was very much a people person so being able to talk to others and learn their stories was always something she enjoyed. "What about you? What have you gotten into around here?"
