Lenormand as a cartomancy system is so much more literal than Tarot! The main thing I had to learn (or unlearn) when trying my hand at Lenormand, was not to look for layers beneath layers! Instead I find that the first thing that comes to mind when you see the cards is usually the right one – go with your gut, but should you get stuck, here are some keywords to help you on your way!

The Feels: The Hermit ~ well, from the look of this picture Scout is feeling pretty comfy-cozy in our little home! He gets the prime spot on the sofa or any other warm soft surface he chooses. He would maybe like a bit more peace as Maya doesn’t always get when it is play time and when to leave him be. But though he likes his own space, he does NOT like to be alone!

The Fuss: The Wheel ~ I know Scout enjoys different smells, he is an indoor cat but he loves sitting at the window with the rollerblinds cracked open sniffing the air drifting past. I think he would enjoy more of the outside being brought in, so he can enjoy the seasonal changes up close and personal ~ I just need to make sure not to bring in any bits of nature that may be bad for cats. As his daily routine is quite repetitive, I think the Wheel shows me he wants to shake things up a bit! Provide some more challenging games, use toys he has to get his food out to make feeding times more fun, and just give him some new experiences in general.

The Fun: 3 of Wands ~ the 2 things I notice first in this image are the poles and the water ~ Scout does enjoy a good scratch post, but seeing as he is a big, heavy cat, the little ones dotted around the house are not really suitable for him anymore and could do with being replaced. The big scratch post can maybe be moved a little further away from Maya’s play area as she keeps incorporating it in to her blanket forts so Scout can’t use it!!! As far as the water goes, YES SCOUT, I KNOW!!! You LOVE being washed!!! I promise I’ll do it tonight ☺️ I am not kidding, he will go crazy every time you move towards the bathroom just in case you are going to run a tap. He used to come sit next to me in the shower when we had a walk-in, now he likes for me to drizzle water from the bath all over him till he is good and wet, then rub him with a wet cloth, then rub him with a towel. You should hear the purrs!!!

A quick Spread in preparation for Mabon, the second Harvest Festival of the year.

What have you been cultivating and how can you put it to use now? What do you need more of and where might you find it? What should you invest in now so you can harvest it when needed in the future?

HARVEST: Hermit ~ I have learned to be alone without being lonely ~ from the age of 15 to 42 I went from one relationship to the next, but over the last 3 years I have learned that I do not need to be with someone, I can just BE. I am enjoying getting to know who I am without being defined by a partner. I can use this lesson to make sure I never need to step in to an unhealthy relationship again just for fear of being alone.

FORAGE: Queen of Cups ~ I can look around me and see strong women everywhere ~ women who stand tall without losing their femininity; women who are soft and nurturing without being push-overs; women who speak out without shouting or are quiet but determined. I can learn from my sisters and be lifted by their generous spirit, so that I may lift others in turn.

GROW: Strength ~ I need to invest in building up my Strength. Physically I need to store up some reserves and find new ways of preserving and maintining energy. Mentally I need to believe in myself more and give myself credit for my accomplishments. My Inner Dialogue needs to become more positive and encouraging. This will let my Strength blossom and grow to shine bright should darker days be up ahead.

I did a Reading for Mother Earth today, using a combination of Tarot, Oracle and Runes.

From the Everyday Witch Oracle I chose the “Connect to Gaia” card as a signifier.
