I have never killed anyone and yet a lot of characters have. I’m ok with this.

Hmmm. I hadn’t thought about this before. When I lived in LA the one thing I missed was an architectural style. One house right next to another would look so different.

Growing up in London spoilt me. There was this one street with houses on an a slight curve with a private garden in front. Huge white Georgian style. Each house like a silent sentinel They are my fav.

French colonial with tin roofs also would be right up there.

I love stone and brick not a huge fan of wooden buildings.

My mum wrote a graphic novel about surviving the holy cast and now lectures about tolerance

What an interesting question Dear Anon I will give you one of the two words of advice my dad( a writer) gave me before he passed when I was still just a wee nipper.

Wrote the truth. Not The Truth but a truth. Say you set your scene in a religious building you have never visited or have an affinity for. It will always seem a little sterile. Sure you can describe how it looks. Videos and pictures. But those intrinsic tiny moments will be very hard to conjure. Places have a smelly a unique heart beat. And if you dint fundamentally understand the religion you’ll never understand the building.

So my solution is if you must used a religious building you’ve never been to and don’t connect deeply with that religion then let your characters be as naive of the space.

You can still write a truth that way.
