The last month included returning from my holiday, dealing with jet lag and toddler jet lag and trying to get back on track. Two big lessons I've learned (again): 1. Sleep is priority number one or I turn into an absolute psycho. 2. Have patience. Making one off hats often means it takes a while for the right person to come along. I had a lightbulb moment - I realized I'm my own boss and gosh darn it, I can luxuriate in taking the time to work on swatches if I want to. Also, I invested in new video equipment for Periscope and YouTube. Last time I tried to scope the tripod literally fell apart in my hands! I need to start setting mini goals for video tutorials, so they are less intimidating and I'll do them. You guys want them, I want to do them, time to give it a go. Let me tell you a story. About 20 years ago someone very important to me sat me down, and with the best intentions, said I could never pursue art because it was only for people with natural talent. That person than went on to list all the evidence that I had no talent. When someone tells me I can't do something - I want to do it even more. But I certainly also felt adrift and hurt and uncertain. I don't want anyone else to feel that way. Art is communication, or contemplation, or a way to fold something external into our hearts. Those things are all human, and we can all do them. Art is for everyone. Whew!
