Nature Hike today.
Steamed Crabs, Natty Boh and Utz Girl, Purple and Orange Reindeer, all that's missing from our float are some Berger Cookies. It's a shame you couldn't make out everything from the shore line but did throw all of this together very last minute as in 6 hours before the Lighted Boat Parade started. This was the parade's tenth year and it just keeps getting bigger and better. If we go with the Baltimore theme again next year we're gonna have to step it up even more.
Long while since I've had anything to update so here comes a chapter summary. Saw Kanye and Kendrick. I've been making homemade bread and want to get more elaborate. After two years at Skipjacks, the team switched trivia nights to a new location and we're actually winning (picture above is the night Lyndsay and I won when it was just the two of us). Fonda (the Honda) bit the dust and I miss her but I love my new car, Joan (Jetta) so much more; those heated leather seats came just in time for winter. I had never been to a Ravens game before and have now been to two this year. Had my first Tinder hook-up. With my promotion I'm looking at houses but after being pre-qualified realized I need to save up more considering my car set me back $6000. I may also look into laser eye surgery which would delay house buying; 20 years of waking up to perfect vision is a bit tempting. Fall was gorgeous, Thanksgiving was delicious, now bring on winter so I can break out the snowboard. I've started Christmas shopping but all I've found this year are things that I'd like. I'll add little things here and there as I remember but honestly that's the gist of my life the last two months.
I'm working on all kinds of cool projects at work. Like proposals for clubs in Vegas, a casino in Baltimore, Dew Tour, I recomposed a piece for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and designed their half time show for the Ravens game on Thanksgiving. There's a ton of holiday stuff coming up too so I've been working on that as well. I've been getting really into animation using Cinema4D. Shows just keep coming as I break more into laser design. I have business cards now and just got a huge promotion so I'll be salary starting Dec. 1st which is kind of huge news.

Affinia Hotel
I hope I never have to pay over $300 for a hotel room but considering the Knicks were paying for this I made the most of it. It was right in the heart of downtown Manhattan across from Madison Square Garden. You had to pay for internet and there was no complimentary breakfast. There was, however, a complimentary wine hour so at least they had their priorities sorted. It was a quick ride to Union Square where I reconnected with Bridget on our seemingly bi-yearly meet-up where either share in tragedy or euphoria.
Fortuitously having Janet Snakehole and Ron Swanson at the same party had to culminate in dancing Ron Swanson by the end of the night.
There was quite a diverse display of costumes for Lianna's party which almost felt catered because there was so much delicious food and drink. You had Walter White and Jesse, a time lord, morphsuits, Bride of Frankenstein, Minnie Mouse, some dead, some undead, Tina Fey, a lumberjack and the party wouldn't be complete without the luchador wearing business attire for their post-match interview.
She’s a widow with a terrible secret; he’s with the fuckin’ FBI. Janet Snakehole and Bert Macklin in Halloween Party at the Snakehole Lounge. After realizing we were taking a photo with him, the coincidental Ron Swanson kept yelling ERASE ALL PICTURES OF RON at my phone. I was thrilled when some of my fellow agents, Scully and Mulder, showed to give me some back-up.
Ayshe had been looking for a photographer for her wedding and a mutual friend suggested that I do it. There wasn't that big of a budget and I had never shot a wedding before so it seemed like the perfect fit. Even more so when I found out that her husband-to-be was an old friend from high school. I went over her house and surveyed the area with her. Ayshe and Kasey wanted to get married at their house so their kids would one day see the pictures and know the history behind their own front yard. After our meeting we went out to eat, I signed a contract to do it and we proceeded to get drunk and become friends (I hope all photography contracts start like that). I met with her again before the wedding and then my job really started at her sisters house as I captured the moments before the wedding. By the end of the day I had taken over 1300 pictures but I'm just going to share a few with you.

This was one of the fastest weddings I'd ever been to. I'm not a big one for all of the drawn out sermons and it seemed like they weren't either as they exchanged vows that actually related to each other. Even the typical "I do" was omitted in favor of "I will". If I was a spectator it would have been my favorite kind of wedding, however, I was the photographer and had to move around and snap as fast as I could while the ceremony moved right from vows into rings and within 10 minutes had a brand new couple standing in front of family and friends.
Once the wedding was over, everything was in my full control and I had to position people, set up shots, and deal with the ever-changing sunlight. At one point instead of saying, "cheese" I was counting down to three so everyone would open their eyes for the shot. It was a fun challenge to organize compositions in a matter of seconds to create photos that are going to be cherished for a lifetime.
After keeping every one waiting for an hour or so, Mr. and Mrs. Bauer were announced to the waiting crowd. From there all the typical wedding stuff took place. The cake was cut, the money went in the apron, the bouquet was tossed, the garter changed legs, toasts were made, dances were had and the best man gave one of the shortest speeches I'd ever heard (he'd never been to a wedding before nor had he watched any YouTube videos on weddings as was suggested by the bridal party). The next morning the newlyweds left on their first cruise ever and I spent all day editing photos. I made it through half and finished the latter after another full day today. I don't have any more weddings on the horizon but I feel a lot more prepared now and look forward to some more freelance work.
