The "humans" in MINDHACK are so intresting to me because clearly multiple distinct species developed into a group society and "human" is the vauge expression of personhood (?) Like, Unid and Captain are obviously not the same kind of creature. Is there cross-species reproduction? Is there physical qualities certain creatures have above others? is someone like Vet Guard less inherently capable than Experienced Guard because he's a stick-figure?. On the topic of Vet, he literally wears no pants, and has no external organs. Does that imply they're just internal or are some creatures just without anything. Maybe they ALL are sexless, and pants is just a dress code option. The "human" kind consists of multiple different fully androgynous creatures who spawn clones randomly!
i think abt it sooo often it is quite interesting…i also often think of this line from unid, which implies that 2 parents do not necessarily have to share a species with their offspring, so their recessive genes can be basically anything
