just a girl and her flower orb.
Watching trailers for new movies before the new Hunger Games (which is amazing btw) and I couldn't help but notice that Amber Heard was absent from the Aquaman trailer. My gf said that ppl online were threatening to boycott the movie if she was in it... For what? For being a victim of domestic abuse? For having her name dragged through the mud by media outlets who couldn't even get the story right? For being the victim of the most blatant smear campaign of the decade? For daring to speak against Twitters white boy of the month Johnny Depp?
But then I see a trailer for a movie STARRING Mark Wahlberg, you know, the A list actor who committed two hate crimes (that we know of) against black children and Vietnamese men in the 80s. And I will not let it slide because he was young, I knew even as a child and a teenager that that shit was wrong despite being raised in a racist, right wing household. There's absolutely no fucking excuse. So where is the outcry? Where is the boycott? Why is he still getting starring roles after being confirmed a violent racist for decades?
Are we supposed to "separate the art from artist"? If so then why are people so eager to banish Amber from Hollywood after one messy divorce? What the fuck is wrong with you people?

I stand with Keke Palmer.
Palmer filed the order against Jackson and a request for sole custody of their son on Thursday.
On Thursday, Keke Palmer filed a temporary restraining order against her former partner Darius Jackson and requested sole custody of their 8-month-old son, Leodis. The filing, viewed by People, is rife with accusations against Jackson. Palmer alleges that on Sunday, “Darius trespassed into my home without my knowledge or consent, threatened me, then physically attacked me—lunging for my neck, striking me, throwing me over the couch, and stealing my phone when I told him I was going to call the police.” The incident began when Jackson, a former college football player and current fitness instructor, came over to take their child to a football game, but discovered the baby was with Palmer’s sister visiting family. They argued, and Jackson allegedly “knocked me backwards over the couch, stole my phone out of my hands, and then ran out of the house.” This, the filing states, was captured on Palmer’s home security system and will be played in court during a hearing. When Palmer went outside to get the phone Jackson “nearly hit me with his car.” The Los Angeles County judge granted a temporary restraining order, which says that Jackson must stay 100 yards away from both the actress and their son. She was also granted temporary sole custody, according to People.
In a response her ex boyfriend leaked an audio where Keke admits hitting him back, now he is trying to use DARVO and paint her the abuser. Sounds familiar, right?
resource request: Indigenous health resources
As part of the Better Future Program’s (@bfpnola's) Indigenous liberation theme for this volunteer term, I’m asking for some help with BFP’s Health Library. The Health Library is a collection of resources for international health education and care that we aim to make freely accessible. From November 2023 to January 2024, I’m going to focus on gathering resources for Indigenous health.
As an international organisation, Indigenous liberation covers a range of interconnected issues and diverse communities and experiences. Some focus areas this term include:
providing care in Palestine and during the Palestinian genocide;
the australian Aboriginal healthcare gap;
Indigenous access to healthcare internationally, including in: - the USA & Canada; - the Congo; and - Sudan.
If you have any resources you would like to see added to the Health Library, you can:
DM me;
@ me in BFP’s Discord server, which you can join here; or
Email me through the contact form.
I also made this post on Instagram, if you would like to share or repost.
when the “10 tips on how to make showering easy for disabled people” list doesn’t include a shower chair or a shower/changing table or grab bars etc, i know they don’t care about us physically disabled people.
good for u that turning off the lights and lighting a scented candle instead and listening to music or put on a show and using a bath bomb etc etc helps u but like none of those tips are that beneficial for physically disabled ppl specifically.
it’s good that those tips are there but for once we’d love to be included.
ACTUAL tips on showering for (physically) disabled ppl:
grab bars or shower chair as ^^^ said
sponge bath or wipes for a quick clean
dry shampoo
sit in the shower
make sure the water isn't too hot, especially my POTS folks! Temp changes make us pass out, reduce your risk of fainting or getting dizzy and nauseous pls
lay down immediately after ur done showering, seriously
no don't get dressed first, give yourself a lil bit
if you NEED to get dressed immediately, do so sitting or laying down in bed
Compression socks after are a GODSEND
This one's also aimed towards POTS folks, have a gatorade or liquid iv ready to down the second you're out
clean bottom to top, because chances are ur energy to bend down will be higher at the start of your shower
for my ppl with inflammation, don't discount epsom salt baths. they're not for everyone but i find them quite nice
for ppl who live with other ppl that they completely trust, and who are afraid they may fall: You don't have to have someone in the bathroom with you, but talk about leaving the door unlocked so they can get to you in an emergency, and let them know when ur in and out of the shower too
my fellow ehlers danlos ppl, the hot water WILL relax your muscles and that WILL result in a higher chance of dislocations during and after showering. Have all available braces at the READY and be extra careful pls
KT tape ppl, take your tape off in the shower or with baby oil. do NOT just peel it off dry skin for the love of GOD
That was way more than 10 tips but I do not care. Have a cookie <3
Also, if you use a shower chair or bench, get a hand-held shower head with a flexible hose. That way, you can aim the water in any direction you need to get into your nooks and crannies, without having to stand in one spot under a stationary stream of water.
BTW: here's a page of image results for Bathtub Benches (benches that fit over the side of a bathtub so you can sit while bathing), in case your only shower option happens to be linked to a tub. (From DuckDuckGo):
DuckDuckGo. Privacy, Simplified.
You can't soak your whole body this way, but you can soak your feet. Also, it may make transferring in and out of the tub easier, depending on the design. A lot of people don't know these things exist, or even what the thing they're looking for is called.
there’s something very dystopian like at the fact that we’re all supposed to continue on with our lives, go to work/school, carry on with our daily routines like we’re not witnessing three countries (sudan, congo & palestine) go through a genocide and mass ethnic cleansing right now all through our mobile phones & the internet
some fucking gowl was shouting out the window at the palestinian solidarity march 'all you gays out there if you lived in palestine they'd kill you' and i was on the megaphone and just started screaming 'queers for palestine' over and over again bc i just needed to say smth but i fucking broke down weeping after we passed her bc it's one thing to see the shit online but another to see someone have the fucking audacity to say it in real life at ppl marching.
how fucking dare you use our oppression as a knife against our siblings being slaughtered. how fucking opportunistic and assimilationist to spit out the homonationalist pinkwashing directly from brand israel who absolutely oppresses their own queer population with no marriage equality but uses 'gay rights' as a cudgel for genocide justification.
queers for palestine 🏳️🌈✊🇵🇸

"This isn't war, it's genocide. Free Palestine"

Remember today. Remember how the world stood by and watched 2.2 million people which more than half of them are children get annihilated. Remember how Israel cut off all ways of communication and internet inside and outside of gaza, and started bombarding the strip heavily like never before with American weapons. How israel made itself look like the victim while it kills a Palestinian child every 10-15 minutes. Remember how if you're in gaza and your house got bombed, you will die either way because there is no way you can call an ambulance. You can't check on your loved ones even if they were meters away. Remember how everybody remained silent while Israelis chant and celebrate Palestinians death, and we demand the chance to live.
Remember how they bombed hospitals, mosques, churches, schools, refugee camps and houses. Remember the families who survived the first bombing in their house, only to get killed in a hospital or a camp. Remember how their defense minister called us Human Animals, our children children of the dark. Remember how the USA and Israel are testing weapons on the people of gaza. Things we've never seen before.
Remember the babies who survived the bombing while their entire family got killed. Who will tell these children their names? They experienced trauma that they don't even have the language to describe it.
Remember that we watched a genocide live, before they start changing the narrative. Remember that when this is marked in history, you were on what side. Remember the "never again" in the holocaust and Rwanda and and, but the "again and again" in gaza until everybody is dead in the most gruesome way.
Remember the killed Palestinians. They are not numbers.
I will NEVER FORGET the Palestinian delegation showing up to Standing Rock. NEVER. THEY SHOWED THE FUCK UP EVEN FROM A WORLD AWAY.
