Original Merrily We Roll Along cast member Ann Morrison (Mary Flynn) talks about meeting Jonathan at her cabaret show and the new cast recording.
Ann: I got to meet Jonathan Groff because he came to see my show. He was just delightful and he just got cast playing Franklin Shepard. So we had a nice little bond there...
We went to see the opening night (off-Broadway). I was relieved knowing we could leave in the hands of three people who really loved each other and really understood Frank, Mary and Charley. That felt really good and we got a chance to tell them afterwards.
It was fun to watch Jonathan Groff crying because he is so sweet, and so connected emotionally. And it felt like he really understood Franklin Shepard...
But it's open now and I guess it got rave reviews, especially because of the three of them, which is lovely, and I'm really touched by that.
I think it's going to be recorded in the next few weeks, a recording of it, and that means that my version of Merrily will be gone. I mean most people won't listen to it again. It will be gone... It feels like I am living my death."
