i love how judith leyster painted herself in a starched ruff she would never have normally worn for painting. what did she do, paint it from memory? have a friend model it? but i like to imagine her filling in the final details while looking in the mirror, arms stretched way out and – carefully, carefully – and one of the lace points still dragged in the palette, because that’s how life is.

Really enjoyed painting this.

John Alvin is the artist behind the iconic movie posters for such Disney classics as The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King.

While walking through a public park in Boulogne-sur-Mer, France photographer Steve Hughes stumbled onto this fun installation of marigolds spilling from a giant paint tube. He says it was also accompanied by a large picture frame that was also filled with blooms. Good stuff. (via StreetArt Germany)
