Turns out I can't paint.

I ordered my wheel unfinished because it was a lot cheaper than the finished ones and I wanted to paint the wheel. I chose this beautiful dark green paint.

But the paint job looks so awful and those kind of round surfaces are super hard to paint. So now I'm not excited at all about this wheel and in thinking about stripping the paint. But that will take so much work and also some money. I don't know what to do. I kinda want to throw the whole thing away. I'm just so mad at myself for ruining something so expensive.

My new spinning wheel is waiting for me at the post office and I have go to the movies so I can't pick it up immediately

First week of TdF

I decided to take it very chill this year (also my first year of TdF). I don't have any big separate TdF project going on. My goals are to spin everyday, finish wipes and spin batts I've blended. I also have huge amount of mint green merino but we'll see if I get around to that.

Days 1 & 2 I continud to spin one old wip (lavender batt). Days 3, 4 and 5 I was not at home so I spun just a tiny bit of silk on my spindle. Day 6 I finished spinning lavender batt and the singles are now resting and on day 7 started spinning beige batt.

Newest vinted find! Thought I might put this in the freezer just in case but I don't think it will fit (hand for scale).

It's 1,7 kg of merino so probably could do two sweaters. TdF plans sorted I guess and I will have a bunch left to practice with on my new wheel!

Finished my socks!

Knitted on 2 mm needle (rip my hands), 72 stitches with an afterthought heel. One sock weighs around 30 grams.

I'm so anxious and I don't know why. I also get nauseous when I'm anxious and on top of that I have emetophobia so being nauseous makes me even more anxious. I'm now in this cycle of anxiety and I don't know how to get out or why I got here in the first place.

spent last night watching a bunch of Instagram reels from a lady who is "growing a dress" (planted a bunch of flax, harvested it, spun it into yarn, and is going to weave it into fabric to sew into a dress) and yknow

it hurts to see someone else living your dream!!!!

TdF thinking

Tour de Fleece is getting closer and I don't have plans for it yet.

I have Ashford Kiwi 3 and it's a good wheel in my opinion and I do like it. One major problem I have with it is that I'm too tall for it/it's too small for me. When I'm spinning on it I'm always in a weird position somehow and my neck starts to hurt a lot. I can only spin short amounts at a time.

Sooo I made maybe a little irresponsible choice (financially at least) and I bought a new wheel. But it hasn't arrived yet and I don't know if it will arrive in time for TdF.

So I can't decide if I should start a new project on my old wheel or should I spin my stash empty. My stash is not so big that I could spin from it the whole TdF and what will I spin on my new wheel when it arrives.

If you're struggling with a project, wear a completed project out for errands. Someone will say "hey thats cool" and you get to say "thank you, I made it" and you see that awed look in their eyes and you feel like you can go back to that project and make it your bitch.
