“I thought horses were supposed to be friendly…”

“Kidnapped by pirate fairies.”

“Hey, that’s not fair, they tricked me.”

“Into giving you all our gold and then taking me as part of the deal!”

“Okay. So I need to work on my negotiation skills.” 

“Mmm. And what about the time we almost drowned because of the mermaids?”

“Uhm…”

“Exactly. You can’t be trusted to make decisions. So from now on, I’m going to decide what we should do.”

“But, I’ve got the maps and the quest sheets.”

Liam snatched the various papers from the boy and shoved them into his deep, navy blue, trouser pockets. “I’m the leader.” He declared.

“But you can’t read.” Theo teased.

“I can read!” Liam snapped back.

“Liar.”

“Coward.”

Theo pushed Liam’s chest but the male didn’t move.

“Weakling.” 

“Shut up.”

“Don’t tell the leader to shut up.”

“You’re not a leader!” Theo cried.

The boys began to fight, although it was a lot of fist flying in the air and none really landing. Theo continued to mock Liam’s pathetic fighting as he dodged every swinging punch.

“I hate you!” 

Boom!

The pair stopped and slowly turned their heads to see a mighty blue dragon towering over them. Liam pushed Theo towards the creature. 

“Hey, stop.”

“This was your idea. You ask it for directions.”

Theo raised his head to meet the dragon’s terrifying glare. “Uhm…” He glanced back to see Liam had run to hide behind a rock. “Sorry to bother you, but-”

The dragon began walking forward, Theo jumped out of the way of the creature's enormous tail.

“Ahhhhh!” Liam cried and began hastily running towards the dark forest. 

“Wait, stop!” Theo took chase after the two, but before he could even reach the rock, the dragon had grabbed his friend and taken flight. 

“Help, Help!” Liam cried from the sky.

Theo raced after his friend with all his might, but the flying beast's rapid speed was no challenge for his meek strength.
